Dogs in Condo

Hi,
Am looking for advice from this community.
I am staying in a condo and have a dog with me for the past 8 years. Today, a neighbour that stays in the next block complained to the management of my condo (as he heard the dog barking) about having a dog in condo is not allowed. The chairman of my condo called me up about this. I am looking for a solution for this as I do not want to give away my dog (he is old as it is. Giving him away might put him in depression). But the neighbour is quite adament that the dog should not be allowed in the condo. FYI, i don't let my dog out of the condo so no one sees him at all. Unfortunately for me, I stay in Selangor so basically, MPAJ does not allow for dog to be condos.

Please help!

Re: Dogs in Condo

Hi Mayc, we are sorry to hear of your situation.

Unfortunately, if the local council like MPAJ expressly prohibits the ownership of pets in high rise buildings, then there is nothing you can do as the condo management has the authority to enforce the by-law and prohibit so.

In your current situation, there are 3 possible solutions:
  1. Amicably discuss with your complaining neighbour and condo management to resolve the issue of your dog's noise, so it causes less disturbance. Sometimes dogs bark more when they have a lot of pent-up energy, and bringing them for more exercise and outdoor activities may help. This would still require the consent of the tenant and management though.
  2. Shift to a location that is pet-friendly, or a landed property
  3. Find a suitable new owner / friend to take care of your dog
We wish you all the best in finding a good solution.
