Dear Members,

Improving Coverage of Pets in Penang & Johor

We have received an increasing number of requests and enquiries from Penang and Johor members, especially those interested in adopting pets. As of now, the majority of our pets are located within Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

During the coming months, we plan to better expand our coverage within Malaysia, and would like to first target Penang and Johor.

If you are from one of those states and would like to contribute, please let us know. Tasks involved include:

• Liaising with the animal welfare NGOs there, taking photos of their pets and putting them online at PetFinder.my
• Advising rescuers on how to place their pets online for adoption
• Encouraging more people to rescue and rehome strays
• Increasing awareness of pet adoption at PetFinder.my through various promotional methods
• Assisting in organizing adoption events there

Feel free to let us know your ideas too.

We aim to build a solid team of volunteers, and together we shall make a difference to the lives of the stray animals there.

I'm operating a petshop in Seberang Prai Selatan. I've been practicing such act in my area, ie, finding new homes for unwanted Dogs and Puppies. Can always count me in. Not long ago, I've just opened a facebook account for selling and adopting of Dogs and Puppies.

You can add me in for such activities.

Dear All,

Thank you for your prompt response. To get started, we need to gather more information on the animal shelters and independent rescue groups available at your locations.

So far, only SPCA Penang is actively making use of our system to feature their pet profiles. SPCA Johor used it for a short while a year+ ago but stopped, I believe due to shortage of resources. There is also Noah's Ark (NANAS) in Johor that I'd like to get on board.

Do any of you have personal contact with these shelters or independent rescue groups? If so, please PM me each of their contact details and website so I can introduce them to our service. We can then follow up by guiding them on listing the profiles online, and in the case of animal shelters, assist them by taking photos of their pets and creating them in PetFinder.my.

Once we settle this first step, we can move on to bringing in more pet owners and adopters from these locations, which would directly help in boosting these shelters and rescuers' adoptions and enquiries.

Thanks for your info, I'll contact them asap!

SPCA Seberang Perai is actually using our system, but haven't updated their profiles since February. Probably due to lack of human resources. I'll check with them and see if some of our volunteers can give them a hand.

I'm in the mainland area of penang now, which is closer to Seberang perai and might be able to help at SPCA Seberang Perai if they need an extra hand. Looking forward to it. :)

Please help Langkawi sanctuary for stray pets/dogs as well.
