You can buat booking at the pasar, warong or sundry shops to put the mice they caught into the freezer instead of throwing them into the garbage bin. Berlambak. Be careful of those that died of rat poison though. {scared}

Hi, Janggut -- I don't know where in Ipoh you can find frozen mice, so I can't help there, but if you are feeding them to a snake, be sure they are COMPLETELY thawed, yes? A frozen mouse -- even partly frozen -- can be fatal to a reptile. {cry2}

And tlllastar (and other rodent lovers), sorry, but I don't know of any substitute. I went through this when I agreed to care for a friend's boa constrictor for a year. The boa would eat only live rats. The nearby pet shop belonged to a married couple who argued about whether to sell me rats to feed the snake: he said yes, she said no. (I hope my boa and I didn't end their marriage! {ohmygod}) Anyway, he won the argument, and I bought a rat or 2 or 3 every week. The only consolation is this: the snake killed the rats so quickly and efficiently that they never suffered. In fact, most of them walked fearlessly up to the snake. Perhaps being bred in captivity, they had no instinctive fear of it? Anyway, they never knew what hit them.

The boa actually ate once a week, but as it grew bigger, it needed more than 1 rat. It had its meal on Saturday, then spent the week digesting.

When it started eating 3 rats at 1 meal, the vet told me it was time to start feeding larger prey -- she recommended rabbits. {ohmygod}

I know this is nature: snakes and other carnivores eat things like rodents and rabbits. I, however, could not bear the thought of buying a bunny to feed to the snake. Lucky for me, the boa's owner returned home, and I returned his snake and passed on the vet's advice.

Again, we can take comfort that snakes -- at least boas & pythons -- are very quick, efficient killers. Their prey does not suffer.
