ni sy nk brkongsi pengalamn sy smlm.. birthday my Opah (bahase perak utk nenek{victory}) is coming up so my family thought of taking her out for dinner and my mum soh leh sy booking tmpt..

my Opah ni very particular bout halal food..tp suka plak mkn mknn western{oh}

so yesterday i called up italiannies kt the gardens tu nk booking tmpt..i berdiskusi ngn manager dia:

'encik, tanya..taliannies ni halal kan?'

'yes maam, we only serve halal beef and chicken'

'are you sure? all the ingrediants used are halal right?'

'yes maam, we are a halal restaurent, most of our staffs are malay'

'ok then, please book for 12 this saturday at 8pm..who am i speaking to please?'

'sure maam, ridhwan here'

begitu la lebih kurang prbualanya..panjang lg..mintak no tipon sume..tp cut short jela{wink}

lps tu, saya surf2 la blog org nk tengok review mknan apa yg best kt italiannies tu..then i jumpa this one blog, saying that most menu's in italiannies uses red or white wine in their cooking..the blogger is a Chinese and added at the end of his post:

'to all my malay friends...if u want to check italiannies out make sure you specifically say to the waiter that you dont want any wine in your meals'

hmm..terkejut i{scared}..so to clear things out i pg la website jakim (spttnya g awal2{ohmygod})..mmg italiannies xde dlm list..so i call blk..tnya manager tu lg skali..cos mane tau mungkin mmg halal tp diorg x apply cert dr jakim ke..x smestinya yg xde cop halal jakim tu haram..cuma x 'ditanggung halal oleh jakim' jela..

prbualan seterusnya begini:

'hi, i called earlier..i just want to confirm with you are really only halal ingredients used?'

'yes maam' <--gaya2 da mls nk layan minah byk soklan ni

'so how come italiannies is not listed in the jakim halal list?'

sbnrnya sy expect die nk jwb mmg xde apply ke..still dlm application ke, pending approval ke..tp dia snyap jap..then dia jwb:

'oh, sorry maam, we do use wine in some of our cooking'

dlm hati sy..'WHAT?!!!!' lps tu kne lecture la dgn sy..{angry}

'whether food is halal or not for some of us is a big issue, bcos its what we eat, next time when you're not sure dont simply give out statements, i called you the second time to make sure and you still say the same, only when i told you that i've been through jakim's website you tell me that you put wine in your cooking..'

panjang lg sbnrnya leteran sy..smpai terdiam mamat tu{shy} mrh btl sy masa tu...naseb bek sy cek kt web jakim..yg buat sy lg geram is manager tu malay, tak sure la islam ke tak..but so inconsiderate..fikir untung je..but the blogger yg sy bce blog die tu chinese siap blh bg tips lg kt malay friends die..

im so disappointed masa tu..kita sesama melayu, sesama islam should help each other out..its a shame when other race and religion are more considerate of our practices..xdela sy nk kata smua melayu cmtu secara umum..just for this one situation and probably others similar out there..

nyway, moral of the story, if you're not sure whether a product/restaurant is halal or not just check this web, blh msk barcode product lg..{good}

tp x semestinya yg xder dlm list tu haram..just x ditanggung la..cos maybe still dlm application ke..blm renew ke..ada stgh mmg x apply bcos dgr2 nk dpt sijil halal ni mahal gak..so kalau nk make sure better just give the restaurant a call.{victory}

sama2 ekien..harap link jakim tu dpt selesaikan byk was2 ke-halal-an mknan untuk semua forumers{cool}

yela skng nih restaurent mcm2 ada...sume sedap2 plak tu{high}..bila tgk menu2 rasa nk bedal je semua{shy} kalau nk cek halal sms pon blh tau(jakim maju da{victory})..cmni..

tp nih blh msk barcode barang la..kalau restaurent x sure{scared}

kekek comel.. pernah terpikir macam nieh bila makan kat DOME dan sewaktu dengannya.. memang makanan mat salleh yang sedap2 dia pakei wine..{wink} bukan diorang tak bother nak minta sijil halal..sbbnyer try tanya chef2 kat hotel... semua mesti tambah wine punyer....

btl3..slalunya mknan western mmg ada wine (slalu tgk travel n living tu..suma nk letak wine..huhu{scared})
ada stgh org kisah..ada stgh org pulak ckp bila dh masak atas api alcohol dlm wine evaporate so takpe..(pulak daa {ohmygod} )..ada juga yg dont mind..ikot la..mcm2 org adaa..
tp just to be safe..kalau yakin tu masa mkn lg rase sedap{shy}

italiannies..tony roma..chilis...hotels restaurant...halal tu setakat sbb tak ada pork saja dlm restaurant...tapi tetap serve liquor...so sijil halal tu sbenarnye pehiasan jaa...option kita boleh ckp kat chef tu no liquor in our steak or menu..tapi kan..dia tetap pakai stool yg sama kt dapor tuh...so kalo was2..better makan kat restaurant melayu or thai..yg betul2 diiktiraf...tapi ada juga chinese muslim restaurant yg pakai chinese cooking wine dlm dish dorang...bismillahhhhhhhhh...tepuk dada tanya selera {victory}

nadia...akak pon orang perak...Opah akak kan..bwk dia masok Mcdonald pon dia tamo makan...kentang goreng pon dia tak makan..takot bebeno Opah teman..punye le dia bejage makannye...syabas Opah...

betul betul tengok channel travel n living pun kiter tahu.. lagi2 tengok Naked Chef masak..sikit2 wine.. saya tak ingat camna saya tahu tapi asanya dulu pernah gak berkawan ngan chef Berjaya hotel.. dia pun ada cakap sbb diroang buat kek sendiri semua kan...{wink} even Secret Recipe pun saya rasa mesti dia ada letak sumthing sbbkan keknyer bukan dibuat di situ..semua dari kilang..dan diorang akan dapat stock.. means dalam tue mesti ada mende yang nak bagi dier tahan lama.. dats why kek SR pun dah keras sekarang.. da tak sedap dah.. kedai kek yang buat sendiri lagi sedap.. or yang bake sendiri... harap2 dalam SR takder lah benda yang tak sepatutnya erk..

hehehe...kalau mkn kat restaurant western, itallian, mmg susah nak cari yang betul2 halal makanannya. I'm not even sure it's possible. Like you all said, kalaupun mintak yang without liqour e.g Jack Daniels steak kat American Chillis, kalau dia tak taruk pun, tempat yang dia masak tu sama jugak.

Dlm pasta pastinya ada red wine or white wine. Dalam tiramisu, fruit cake ada liquour unless kedai tu specify tak pakai. Masakkan yang ada daging dan ikan biasanya ada red and white wine cos wine melembutkan daging gives depth to the taste. Habis camne. So we have to be very very careful lah. Nak tanya waiter pun, most of them bangla sekarang. Bukan dia paham pun {ohmygod}

kat semenanjung mmg susah nak cari chinese restaurant yg halal tp kat KK byk.Muslim kahwin dgn chinese & buka restaurant.mmg ramai yg melepak kat sana.pastu chinese restaurant yg mmg halal coz pekerja suma muslim & ada sijil Jakim & vast market klu dpt capture muslim market membuatkan durang berebut2 buka restaurant chinese yg halal. aku klu kat KK paling suka lepak kat Fook Yuen. harga berpatutan dan makanan pun sedap.

klu western food selalu lepak kat Hapen belakang Wisma Technip Jalan Tun Razak. staff suma islam tp lepas diungkitkan kisah ni,aku jadi was was lak nak makan kat situ. {ohmygod}{ohmygod}{ohmygod} silap2 panjat dapur durang dulu before order.

btl3 kak fareen, nih setuju sgt! kt mana2 diorg ada kot, western ke..fast food ke, kopitiam ke, thai ke..ada je..cm rase kt bangladesh da..oversea gitu{victory} tp ada stgh tuh fasih jgk ckp melayu, siap slang utara{shy} ada one day tu sy g china town..lama da x g teringin jln2..bila round2 suma kdai org bangla jaga..da bangla town{cry2}

Well............... x rugi pun x makan itallianies..

Dua tahun lepas saya pergi itallianies kat JB makan spaghetti all you can eat..mula2 x de la rasa apa sbb yg kerja semua melayu. Pastu ada gak org melayu lain tgh mkn kay situ {sick}

Bila dia bawak spaghetti kluar.. AMPESS TAK SEDAP PUN!!.. saya buat sendiri lagi sedap {nah}.. lepas tu dia ada bg roti free.. ada la cicah dia situ..saya pun x tau main bedal..lepas tu.. rasa dia pelik.. strong dan masam luar biasa,.. terus stop makan. Takut benda tu wine.. so terus bayar dan chow....

Tapi pelikla jugak, kenapa pekerja2 situ (yang rata2 melayu x cakap apa... ) tapi tu the first and the last la makan itallianies.. AMPES, X SEDAP {nah}

P/S: Nak spaghetti/lasagna sedap kat food court KLCC..yum yum yum {high}

Just curious... Besides pork and wine, is there anything else that's considered non-halal? Since no one in Msia actually eats dogs{sick}, so i guess that will not be in the way la...

Now only i know the halal sijil is based only on pork or no pork. why they don't take wine into consideration? Wonder if my malay friends know about this. Else, a lot will be tricked into having wine portion in their food!? {scared}{ohmygod}

Btw, I do like Italiannies, but not all branches serve good food. The one in Sunway Pyramid is particularly nice and have superb service. the 'kuah' for the free bread is olive oil and vinegar. Maybe the vinegar tasted like wine? The one in OneU, not worth mentioning {arrogant}

hhahahaha... tang nih mmg betul kak, adik kalau makan kat TGIF tuh sampai kebil2 cakap ngan waiter Africa tuh {shy}{shy} sebab dia tak paham cakap kita. sudahnya kena cakap n tunjuk gambar pastu bagi isyarat tangan!!!{ohmygod}
