N N Pet House in Damansara Uptown, Petaling Jaya
 

I visited the pet shop on 25 Aug 2010 and what I saw really disgusted me.

-all cages were extremely filthy {vomit}
-NO clean water provided, some animal don't even have any water source
-animals esp persian kittens, dogs and sugar glider are sickly
-a boxer dog kept in a cage that is too small that it could barely stand on four.
-almost 20 sugar gliders cramp in a 1ft by 2ft by 3ft cage. No pouch nor branches nor any toys. Was told those sugar gliders are used for solely breeding purposes. {angry}
-Many hamsters cramped in a small tank and it was extremely dirty
-Pet chickens were kept in cages in the toilet {ohmygod}
-Many tortoises kept in a yellow water pile with algae water in the same toilet as the chickens
-2 doves were kept in a cage next to the cats' cages. Hence, the birds were stressed all time.

I had reported this pet shop to SPCA. The pet shop should not be allowed to operate with such atrocious conditions and petlovers should not patronize such vendors. {angry}{angry}{angry}

you have done a good job. what action does SPCA made regarding about this pet shop?

Thank you. I'm just merely doing what is right. {wink}

A report been summited to SPCA since Friday but any representative yet to contact me. I'm not sure what is their SOP. Could be they will inspect the pet shop 1st (undercover?), then contact me or vice versa. Furthermore, it is a long weekend. So I'll give them time til next Wednesday b4 approaching SPCA again. If they need me to be a witness, I'm willing.

Anyone with the same experience can share with us on what usually is SPCA next move?

Pudu Aquarium & Pet shop, Jalan Tun Razak

I came across this TERRIBLE PET SHOP along jalan tun razak, Pudu Aquarium & pet shop...I mean its the worst I have seen in my life...before this I have seen like overcrowded shops and even betta fish sold in a tiny plastic bag, but this is unimaginable...
When u enter the shop itself it gives u a sinking feeling{cry}...and when u leave it totally makes u emotionally disturbed...U can see birds put together in a small cage, more than 3 pupies together in a cage, even 3 big geese together in a cage...the bettas were put in a small box which they call a fish tank..and they were more than 10 turtles in a tub together-on each other with no space to move! Sick looking rats...The water was so dirty in the aquarium that I could hardly see the fishies! The ony animals which got a cage each were the pedigree dogs n cats..as though its a crime to be stray!
They had some exotics as well..mongoose n an animal I couldn't identify! The 1 thing in common was that all the animals were crammed into small cages!!
Honestly, seeing is believing!!{angry}
Then me n my bf e-mailed SPCA and they told us to email the Veterinary Services Department..we emailed them and they are yet to reply us! Even emailed the other NGO's including Kechara n all, but they said nothing can be done other than emailing SPCA and VSD...
Its sad to live in a country where animals (voiceless as there are) seem to be getting such a bad deal... {cry}
The only thing to do is DONT EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THAT SHOP!!! Please tell ur friends and tell them to tell theirs...if everyone from Selangor & KL refuse to buy then chances are high that they have to close shop!!

Hi Vani,

I get the same reply fr SPCA too. they told me to contact the Vet dept. But the Vet dept told me they only do disease control. They can only take action if there is a disease outbreak!!!{angry} Seem like no one club/NGO/association wanna take up the trouble.

So who's gonna stand up for those poor voiceless animal?

So much so for our animal rights in Malaysia. So much so for this association/NGO/Gov etc for labeling themselves as the-fighter-for-our-animal-rights! {nah}

Vani, all we can do now is NEVER patronize those awful pet shop. Sadly, that's all we can do. {cry}
