Eating and playing with poo

Dear all,

I'm very troubled by the fact that my dog, Cookie de Beagle has a very bad habit of eating and playing with her poo. She is 10 months old now, and still doing it after various scoldings, beatings, praising for not eating poo with treats etc.

The situation is like this. She is kept in a playpen connected to her crate (The crate and playpen is in the house). She is usually potty trained to poo inside her cage. When we're around, we will let her out to the living room, and take her for walks at times. The reason that we can't let her out 24/7 is because she keep searching for things to destroy, thus she still need our monitoring whenever she's out.

The problem occurs when we're either not in the living room, or out. She'll poo, eat some of her poo immediately, and drag her poo across the playpen to play. Her pooing time is still inconsistent although we feed her same time very morning and evening. But when we're near, she'll poo, get out from the cage, but sometimes will still nibble on it.

We tried detterent pills, obviously didn't work. Pineapple, garlic... neither works. Sprayed chilli padi water, vinegar, pepper, minyak angin... didn't work.

We're totally clueless now. We're trying the time-out method, by short leash her outside for an hour. But it doesn't seem to work.

Dear all, is there any solution to the problem?

Sincerely,
Eevon.

Eevon,
Are you first time have pet? question for you, when your pet 1-6 month, do she always alone? Do you get her any favour dog toy? Dog need have good poo and pee training since starting 3 week above. I have an article on 05-07-2008, 10:58 AM. Hope can assist you.

Potty Training
To teach the dog where to relieve herself. at first you need clean up the smell where they potty/pee before, need do 100% clean up.
1.when find up he/she want potty or pee, bring they on news paper area at floor.make ready 6 news paper at floor. they will do smelling find the place. the best way try get one pee with news paper put at 6 news paper there.
2.never let they make single mistake
3.let they know where you want they to go and...
4.reward they for doing so. "goooood boy/girl."
5.remember each hour hurry the dog to the intended toilet area or dry area with news paper.(go pee! or Go poop). Praise and offer a couple of training treats when successful.
6.the potty training need about 3-4 month for successful.
7.If fail for potty training might facing many problem, they do pee and poop every where, the pee stink is hard to erase, you cannot bring they to friends house or restaurant.

my dog rocky need 2 month for seccessful ,and ricky have follow rocky did, he only less then 2 month.
that the best way for dry area potty training. News paper good and easy clean up.Just much more affordable!! Good for urban dog owner.

Re: Eating and playing with poo

Dear dog is my buddy,

Newspaper is a definite no no for her.. because she tears and eats them up. She was potty trained, with praises and the smell rub/left a little at the spot. She usually pee/poo in the crate. she still poos in the cage, and won't poo anywhere else, not even in parks. But the thing is not where she poos, but how she plays with her poo and drag it all over the floor of the playpen. She nibbles on them too.

They always say dogs wont like if there's poo or pee at their sleeping area. She sleeps in the playpen, not the crate, but she still mess her playpen up.

She still eats her poo after various methods to get her to stop. The big "NO" doesn't work. The praise "goood girl!!!" when she leaves the poo doesn't work.

She wasn't alone during the first few months. I stay with family, and my sister's friends always come over to play with her. Plus she gets walks and is a playmate with my sister's friend's dog.

I don't know what to do {cry}
