I think cats can sense their owners coming home, too, but not as far away as dogs can, if that claim is true.

I always know when my hubby has got onto our floor because Blackie would go and sit behind the door. And my mum says that when I'm out, and if she sees Blackie running to the main door and sitting there, she knows I'm home, too, as shortly later, I'll open the door.
