Cookie, the reason dogs cannot eat cat food is because it is too high fat for the dog and will cause health problems. The cat system can handle high fat pretty well but for not the dog. And cats cannot eat dog food simply because cats are ultimate carnivores and their body cannot handle or tolerate non-meat products like carbohydrates and plant products well. Dogs can eat some plant products.
