I think he might be abused before thus not trusting humans and that, takes quiet some time to be connected again. Or, he might be in deep pain that he ask to be leave alone.
For me usually if I come across this kind of cat, I take time to make friends cause is never too good to rush.But if condition is serious, I will grab it, I don't care if I get hurt and stuff inside the cage to go to vet. I hope that helps :o

'Used' to have 8 turtles, 14-16 chickens and rabbits. In Bali last time used to have 2 dog. :P
