schnauzer lost appetite, fasting for many days!

Anyone of you face similar issue? My boy didn't eat for more than 4 days! I'm worried... I did bring him to vet, and some medicine from vet doesn't help him to start eating. He only eat when i place the food in his mouth, he also ignore to eat his treat, need help!

Hi,

i believe your dog is ok since you send him to doctor. it did also happen to my girl too. her case is she trying to let me know she is angry. this happen after everytime i send her to boarding. when is back, she will smell her food and just walk off..angry! hahaha..what you can do now is ensure the water is always there for your boy. then you may try to change some of his food. i.e do some homecook food - add chicken breast, carrot or cabbage to his food. hopefully it help :)

When you took your pup to the vet, did the vet do a really careful examination of his mouth and teeth?

If he has an abscess or infected tooth, it may be too painful for him to eat. Have you tried offering him something very soft, like a piece of steamed chicken? If he'll take soft foods but not his dry biscuit, I'd suspect a dental problem.

Very stressful for you, either way.

Good luck -- I hope you can find & solve the problem, or as weetingtan says, that he just changes his mind and starts eating again. :-)
