Default Where to buy grain-free canned and dry?

Hey guys, I just signed up here to ask a few questions

I have two cats which I've been feeding a mixture of Friskies canned (not good I know ) and Smartheart dry (), and one of my cats has been having a bout of bad green-ish diarrhea since he's been eating Smartheart and I'm worried.

I've researched online that grain free is the best kind of food to feed your cat for a healthy digestive system. I live in Jalan Cheras, KL, and I'm not sure where I should look to find good grain-free food brands.

Could someone please give me some information on what and where I could find some?

Hi, Hbeirouty, and welcome to the Petfinder forum!

I'm not familiar with the Jalan Cheras area, so there may be shops near you that I don't know about.

I buy my grain-free foods from Home Pet Food & Care. The owners are knowledgeable and friendly, and they carry an enormous variety of cat foods, both canned and dry. Home Pet Food & Care is at 41, Jln 1/149J, Sri Petaling.

Good luck, and I'm sure your cats will enjoy their new diet! :-)

Hey there, thanks for the response! I just wanted to ask you what brands do you buy for your pets? Because I've looked around a lot in some stores here like Giant and Jusco and they don't seem to have a lot of brand variety, so any information on that from you would be helpful :)

Hi, hbeirouty!

Yes, I'm afraid the hypermarts and supermarkets carry only the very low-quality cat foods. To find the better stuff, you really need to find a pet supply shop.

Some of the grain-free biscuit brands are Addiction, Feline Caviar, Evo, and Orijen.

The premium (also grain-free) wet food brands include Addiction, Evo, Natural Balance, Holistic, Go!, Avoderm, California Naturals, and a few others.

As for me, I used to feed my 2 cats Addiction biscuit with a little wet food as a treat until my vet convinced me that I was doing it backward and encouraged me to switch them to a wet diet. Now I feed a combination of raw food (which I make using beef and following a vet's recipe) and the premium canned foods. Everyone who advocates a wet diet insists that the money we spend on the food will result in savings on vet bills, as the cats are less likely to suffer the kidney and liver problems so many biscuit-fed cats experience. Is this true? Only time will tell for me, as my cats are still only 5-7 years old. They have been remarkably healthy, though! :-)
