Hi, MHK.oyen -- may I ask, why are you considering buying a cat at all?
Look at the for adoption pages on Petfinder, where independent rescuers are listing over 2,000 cats and kittens who need homes. If you visit local shelters such as PAWS and SPCA, you will see hundreds of cats who face euthanasia if they are not adopted. It doesn't matter whether you want a short-, medium- or long-haired cat, or a cat of a certain type or colour -- you are sure to find a loving and loyal pet either for free or for nominal adoption fees through these channels. By buying pets from pet shops and backyard breeders, you are actually fueling the problem of overpopulation, overbreeding purely for profit. As the saying goes, Don't Breed or Buy While Shelter Animals Die! Please, I encourage you to adopt.

Hmmm, I'm sorry - I'm not familiar with the shelters in that area. I hope other members will speak up and share information. Is PAWS in PJ closer to you?

Re: Cat price
I'm from Kota Kemuning and, yes, depending on which shops you go to, I can tell you for a fact, the prices for cats are super expensive. So, like Maneki Neko, I suggest you adopt.
There's a vet around Bukit Rimau -- Hillpark Veterinary Medical Centre, I think -- that adopts out free cats/kittens. I've been there before and the vet was pretty nice to my cat. Their own cats seem healthy and well-kept, too. They even take precautions like not letting anyone touch the cats until we get our hands sanitized, etc.
The other day, they even had a pet adoption drive.
So, yeah. If you're around Shah Alam, you can always go there. Or PAWS, as was suggested. Several of my friends adopted their pets from PAWS and one of my friends from Kemuning even volunteered there so it can't be that far.
Good luck. :)
