Happy puppies looking for homes
Handsome labrador retriever cross Johnson and happy puppy Orenj are among 30 puppies and dogs available for adoption this Saturday. Independent dog rescue group, Paws Mission, is kicking off its monthly adoption drive this July 31st at 43, Lorong Nikmat 2, Happy Garden, Jalan Kuchai Lama in Kuala Lumpur.
“Our shelter is becoming overpopulated with a large number of puppies and we need to urgently rehome them to make space for other homeless pups and dogs. Please help save the lives of these precious animals and give them much-needed, loving homes,” said Ho Lai Peng, a coordinator for Paws Mission.
Most of the pups for adoption are under six months old. This includes Orenj, who has stunning light green eyes and is among four playful siblings rescued and placed at Paws Mission shelter home. A few adult dogs will also be looking for homes. Johnson, a gentle 3-year-old golden Labrador retriever cross, was loitering in Bandar Utama for a week before he was rescued. Ho said Paws Mission decided to put him up for adoption after efforts to find his owner failed.

Set up in 2009, Paws Mission comprises volunteers dedicated to protect the welfare of homeless animals through education, health care, adoption and promotion of foster care. It currently operates from a makeshift temporary shelter in Old Klang Road, but the place is getting overcrowded and the future is uncertain as it may face eviction threat from the authorities.
“We plan to hold a monthly adoption drive to rehome the pups as quickly as possible. For every pup that is adopted from our shelter, five new ones come in. There is never enough space and manpower,” Ho said.
Paws Mission aims to start a foster care network and appeals to dog lovers to open up their homes to care for these homeless animals until permanent homes are found for them. Food, and kennels if necessary, will be provided.
Volunteers are also needed urgently to help in the daily care of these animals. We welcome donations in kinds especially dry and canned dog food, cages and playpens, dog treats, shampoo, towels and newspapers.
