Default Belle is in heat. :x

Hey all.

Belle just came into heat for the 1st time 2 days ago. I'm considering to spay Belle but I keep convincing myself otherwise.

I guess I keep convincing myself otherwise because;

1. I'm not really sure how the procedure is done and I've heard it's more complicated than neutering male cats.

2. She likes to chatter like a bird, which I hardly see in other cats. Which means I want one litter from her. :x ( I know about the pregnancy complications, how many kittens that may come out of her, 'I should be reducing the population of strays not increasing it' and so on. ) Though the 2nd reason is very selfish of me but the thought of not having another 'Belle' is kinda saddening but still selfish.

It's more of a 60-40 situation were I'm leaning more towards spaying her. Because I also, personally, would not want her to go through the pregnancy pain.

So guys, convince me into spaying her. D:

I'd like to know how the procedure is done, what has to be done before bringing her to the vet and I'm thinking of bringing her to the Klinik Kembiri since it's cheaper, so I'd like to hear from your personal experiences there if you guys have went there before.

Oh. If any of you would like to see a clip of her chattering, I'd be more than happy to upload it.

not that complicated for female cat.I have sent many female cats (strays & mine) to Klinik Kembiri.I send them at 0900hrs in the morning and within 3 hours I can collect them back home. Once they are at home I confine them in the cage with the litter box, water bowl and food for abt 5 days to avoid too many movement. In they tend to lick the stitches I put on the e-collar and not to forget apply gel gamat for quick healing process. During that period they look normal.they play, socialise, eat as usual.2 weeks ago I send Belang & Oren for spaying. The wound almost dissapear by now.

If you convince you can have carbon copy of Belle from her litter then you are wrong. I saw many mild temperamental mother cat with good behaviour doesn't produce the same from their kittens.

well... its all up to u a.ya... but as for the neuter/spay... there got 2 type... one is regular...with stitches (most of cheaper one is regular) and other is cosmetic surgery... for cosmetic surgery, within 1 day only they can fully recovered... no worries if the cat like to lick at their tuuuttt... no stitch involved... i got this info from PD vet.. i pun dah survey harga dah... if cosmetic.. abit mahal..dlm 30 ringgit mahal dari yg biasa... lagi mahal sikit utk female kalau yg tgh heat... doktor ckp dia punya kapilari darah ada sedikit sensitip dan mengembang time tu... tu yg mcm sikit complicated nak buat surgery.... apa apa pun... my petua is.. kalau tgh heat tu.... cepat2 u mandikan kucing u... later u lap sikit2 je.... biar the rest dia yg lap sendiri... time dah takda masa dah nak golek2 bising2 gedik2.... preoccupied grooming bulu kasi kering... muhahahahaha

Well, not exactly a 'carbon copy'. Just Little Belles. xD

Berapa dia charge utk spay sekor kucing? Just to double-check.

My brother pernah hantar his male cats utk neutered tp dia send kat private vet la. Mmg skejap the stitches heals. But it may take a longer amount of time for the female's to heal right?

Klinik Kembiri charge RM60 for female. klu male mmg cepat heal.skrg ni durang ada new teknik utk percepatkan healing process female cat.tak sakit sebab kucing kena inject tido masa operation.dulu dlm masa 12 jam baru kucing tu bgn tp with new drugs no pain and the cat wake up within 1 hour after the operation.masa jalan tu agak groggy but after 2 hours durang jalan pun dah steady.

My cats yg baru2 ni I antar, dlm masa 2 hari durang dah steady.meronta2 nak kuar main berlompatan dlm cage. tp I just tambah 3 hari utk pastikan durang betul2 dah sembuh baru kuar. luka lepas operation tu cepat sembuh.asalkan u confine durang dlm rmh dan jgn bg kuar dari rmh within 5 days tu,everything will be ok. I nampak a lot of difference dari dulu mula2 I antar kucing kembiri kat Klinik Kembiri.

a.lya, if you should still decide to try for "little Belles", brace yourself well for possible very, very big disappointment where all kittens DO NOT look or act like Belle AT ALL! Not a single one! Not even like the Daddy too!

In my long experience with mother cats, I have found soooooooo many mommy cats with every kitten that look NOTHING like Mommy at all, litter after litter! Be very, very prepared.

Better that you spay Belle so that she will have better health and you can enjoy her specialness longer. If you take good care of her, she can live more than 10 years ... and that is a LOT of enjoyment and cuddles for you!

a.lya,
I agree with Furkids. The meowmmy usually does not produce kittens that look like her. In my former place, there were a couple of female cats, a siamese and a calico. The toms are a tuxedo and a "green" tabby. The siamese has the most litter, as she's the queen there, and none of her kittens look a little bit siamese at all. Rather, they are all either tuxedos, or tabbies.

And Blackie's mother was the calico, and Brownie is an orange and cream tabby while Blackie is....Blackie. The other 2, taken care of by the gardener but later disappeared, were orange and cream tabbies, too.

So, chances of little "bells" are quite slim, I would think.

Eeeh. I thought I already replied to Furkid's post yesterday. ._.

Alaaa. Doesn't matter la nmpk mcm Belle ke tak, tp janji anak dia. xD

I've balanced out the pros and cons and came to the conclusion...

..to spay Belle after her heat cycle.

One of the reasons why I wanna spay her is, my brother just got himself a mixed Bengal. I suddenly remembered the joy of selecting a cat from a petshop for the 1st time - which I did with Belle. I also wanted Belle to remain as my baby. Not me being a grandma to several kitties or something.

Oh, one of my friends mentioned if we spay or neuter our cats (this is directed to the Muslims), we have to..I'm not really sure what the word is but my friend said it was 'nafkah'.

We have to pay nafkah because we're taking the animal's right and if we don't, they will claim it during afterlife.

I've never heard of this before and I'm not sure what he meant by 'nafkah' since nafkah - to my understanding - is some sort of allowance.

Perhaps he used the wrong term to describe it, but I don't know..

Tu laa. Mula2 alya pun musykil mcmne nak bayar nafkah kat kucing..bukan ke bagi makan minum tu considered bagi nafkah jgk kan? Tapi yg lagi risau bila dorg cakap kucing tu akan datang kat kita bila kita dah mati sbb kita amik hak dia. -.-

Minta maaf for butting into the Muslim religion, tapi ingin tau ape maksud hukum harus. Harus tuh bukan ke maksudnya "should" in english....e.g., I harus balik skg...(I should go home now)???

Babycico, ko pun boleh dapat IC untuk anak2 bulus ko mah.
