Parvovirus is very, very deadly. Especially in young puppies. You need to bring your pup to the vet NOW and get him admitted and watched 24/7. Many puppies will die within 48 hours of showing symptoms.

Next time, please don't buy puppies from petstores. Petshops get all their puppies from puppy mills (you can Google this), and puppy mills have BAD sanitation and basically don't care about the health of any of their animals. Your puppy probably got parvovirus from the puppy mill and was already sick before you got him.

It is very expensive to treat parvovirus. There is no cure or medicine. All the vet can do is give supportive care, IV fluids, and hope that your puppy's immune system can fight the virus by himself.

Good luck.

you fall for another case that being brought up by another member before...

pls be moreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee careful especially buying from anyone you dont even know.............especially those who goes free listing and posting pet for sale everywhere...
there is always something behind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you want to buy you have to buy from a reputable petshop (not some petshop with carries abc pet store or whatsoever)..

if the seller tells you
you pay and 7 days warranty THERE IS SOMETHING BEHIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

buying pet is not something you just buy from the market or some places you think.

i would appreciate if you could also lodge a report on such acts since the pet shop exist...

Vivien, when it comes to puppies, I would agree with lucidity's advice, which is NEVER to buy puppies from pet shops. I have never seen a "reputable" pet shop -- in the Americas, Europe, or Asia -- that sells puppies. Sure, some shops may honour their promises, and some might vaccinate their puppies. The problem is, where did the puppies come from?

Answer: most often, from puppy mills. Someone who wants to make money gets a male and a female of a certain breed, and starts making puppies. They usually keep the dogs in horrible conditions, and they breed them until they cannot produce any more pups. They know nothing about genetics, so the puppies often inherit health problems. The bottom line: when you buy from a pet shop, you are supporting puppy mills, whether you're aware of it or not.

The best advice to give people in search of pedigreed pups is to find a reputable and knowledgeable breeder. Visit the place. See how they care for the dogs. Are the parents healthy? Have they been certified free of disorders like hip dysplasia? Do the people seem eager to talk with you about the dogs? Do they offer to take the pup back if there are problems? Do they specialise in one or two breeds (better), or are they breeding 10 breeds (not good). These are some good signs to look for... :-)

Maneki Neko, not all pet shops are as described in that manner
i know few friends who look purely for breed and they do get is from pet shop. Some breeders dont sell to you directly as they are also very particular on who they give their pets.

I wont say you should go against every pet shop in such cases because there are genuine some out there. You just have to know where you are and who you are dealing with.

The problem with some buyer that they are very anxious and uneducated and they simply look into cheap bargain dogs thinking it is good. There are of buyers also think oh ... this dog..with that breed cost only........ so at times it all depends your luck..... Not every dog in the dog mill or so are infected or so and that goes with other animals only. Only there will be group of people who are used medium all out to clear their dog because there is always demand. You can try to cut demand by other options like adopting but there will always be other people looking for pure breed.

Even some directly you get from a person doesnt mean it is bad as well - if you want to look into buying you need to know what goes around and be very well verse on the pet you are getting which there are still a lot of people who dont know their rights.

There are lot of consideration before you buy a pet and who you are dealing with whether its direct, pet shop, breeder or even adoption

Not sure about Malaysia, but in North America, UK, Australia, etc.. good breeders will never, never, ever put their pups in a petstore. EVER.

Breeders are very strict with who they sell their puppies to. It takes thousands of dollars to whelp puppies and make sure they're all healthy. By selling them in petstores, they are basically allowing any tom dick and harry to buy their puppies. Let's face it... people usually buy puppies on impulse, because they're "so cUTEEEE!", and when the puppy pees/poops everywhere and grows up (not so cute anymore, huh?) they just give them away or drop them off at the shelter.

If I want a purebred dog, I'll look for a reputable, responsible breeder. You can call the MKA for a list of breeders in their registry. Visit the breeder's home and see how they treat their dogs. Good breeders will only breed 1 or 2 types of breeds. "Breeders" who offers more than 10 different breeds are puppy mills. Good breeders breed to better the breed, not to make money.

It's very sad to see puppies from puppy mills. They are deprived of good socialization, and are often sickly or have temperament problems. I've seen hundreds of puppies die of illnesses because their owners didn't know any better and bought them from petstores or brokers. Even the ones who are healthy always have temperament problems.

Please don't support puppy mills. If all you want is a puppy, please go to the shelter or look through Petfinder to save a homeless puppy.

here malaysia a lot of cases as such that why you see a lot of missing dogs...
they kidnap ppl dogs and start breeding like they breed rats..... and sell to certain petshops or even direct.

I hope pet buyers should 1st discourage from buying from internet unless you really know that seller very well....

most of this cases they tend to advertise around local portal and even here petfinder.my also you can have some ppl... creating thread..cute poodles for sale and so on.... the price is definitely very attractive and you still get buyer who are keen to buy.........and caught into trap as such and regret later.

when you buy from any place petshop or even direct..you need to do your own research...... never walk in to a pet shop and tell them i want to buy this..you will end up a sick pup end of the day...... but there are some genuine one. Buyer can always get friends to go along, get to know where they are getting.... it is best once you purchase, go straight to a vet that you know. Before you get you can also engage vet dr with pet expertise before making a purchase. Cheap dogs always have something behind but not to say all are bad. There is always two things and not everything negative.

Here in malaysia there are still high demand for pure breed and small dogs this days. A lot of people staying in condo and apartment which resulted to many demand in small little dogs instead of medium to big. There are also mass breeding ground somewhere and its kind of hard to stop because there will still ppl wanting it.

so to all be really careful when you purchase your little pet.....but if you are given a chance...do consider adopting :)

Sigh. When will people learn that BYBs and puppy mills are bad? :( I have a friend who also bought a Pomeranian from a petstore.. and then it fell sick and they brought it back. Few days later the owner of the petstore called them to say that they "shipped the puppy back to Thailand". Yeah right, the puppy probably died.

Anyway, do any of you know if there's a website that has a list of breeders in Malaysia? I have been trying to find a Papillon breeder in Msia, but I don't think there are any..

For what it's worth, I've never seen a Papillon listed for sale or adoption on Petfinder or in the newspapers. But this is, in one way, a bit of good news for the breed -- it means it's not yet become popular in Malaysia and no one is yet overbreeding or carelessly breeding. As opposed to Toy Poodles, Shih Tzus, Pomeranians, which are churned out like pieces of cheap furniture.

Yeah, that's one thing I like about owning a Papillon! They're super rare and most people don't even know what kind of breed they are :D

Hmm, if I can't find a breeder in Msia I think I'll have to go to get one from an Australian breeder instead...

Yeah, I feel so sad seeing all these ads for Toy Poodles, Poms, etc. Especially people advertising "teacup" puppies. There is no such thing as a teacup!! Just runts in the litter :( Ugh. Sorry, I get really pissed off at people who try to con innocent people into buying their sickly, improperly bred puppies. Dogs are not machines!
