Right, Joey! And this is one very LUCKY capybara, to have found some Americans who will treat it as a pet.
In Mexico, the capybara is
food. And, as you've pointed out, it's a big rodent, so one capybara can feed a lot of people.
In many parts of South America -- Peru, Bolivia, and so on -- guinea pigs are also raised for food.
Such a range of cultures we have on the planet. One person's pet is another person's food.
(I'm vegetarian myself, so I just go round the world eating whatever plants I can find...
)
