Litter of Stray Kittens
Yesterday while I was walking my dog I noticed a sound coming from a storm drain near my house so I went to investigate. Realized that a kitten had fallen inside and was crying for help. The mother cat was sitting a few metres away. So I hoped for the best and left. In the evening I walked my dog again and still heard the kitten this morning. Got some people to try and help, we opened the metal grill covering the drain but the kitten kept running away when it saw us and the drain is just too small for us to crawl in.
Anyway, this mother cat and her litter (something like 4-5 kittens) have been living in a bush beside my neighbour's house. The kittens look about 7-8 weeks old and are really cute. Two of them have Siamese colouring, but the mom is a black and white kitty. She's really small so I think the kittens will be small too.
The neighbour has been feeding them but they are strays. I can't stop thinking about them. I feel like I should try to find homes for the kittens because they are very nicely coloured and cute, they should be easily adoptable.
Should I try to catch all of them first and then foster them while looking for permanent homes for them or should I just leave them there? Someone suggested I take pictures of them and post them here, but I don't feel comfortable just letting someone take them away without bringing them for a vet check/vaccinations/deworming etc. first.
Anybody have any advice on what I should do? I don't even have a small carrier to put the kittens in. My dog's carrier is way too big for the kittens and he still uses his carrier as a bed. The kittens are big enough to jump out of boxes I think. Does anyone know where I can get low-cost plastic cat carriers? The ones the petstore I visit have are all RM50 or more for the smallest carriers.
