Default Vaccination for Puppies

Need some guidance. I just got a new puppy (lab & golden retrieval mix) that is 4 weeks old. When do I need to send for 1st vaccination and how many times more do I have to send her back for vaccine? Also I am staying in Kajang, do I need to get a license to keep a dog from the local council? I have not kept a dog for the last 15 year or more.

hi there,

4 weeks old is too young a puppy and will need careful handling n care... did u buy or adopt the pup?

anyway, perhaps u would want to bring the pup to a vet for a checkup n deworming... isolate the pup from other dogs n pups for at least 7 days, becoz if the pup has any illness festering inside, it will show within this period...

pups are vaccinated when they are 2 mths old, followed by 2 more boosters a month apart, after that it will be annual vaccinations... ask ur vet abt this n other preventions, a good vet will hv no problem explaining anything to u...

yes, u should get a dog license from the kajang council n do not let the pup out of ur house unsupervised... the pup should always be on a leash with u whenever outside...

all the best with the new pup...

Thanks for the info. I bought it. The puppy looks pretty healthy and active. I will bring her to a vet for a general checkup.

yes, do bring the pup to the vet for a checkup... also, i must say the person who sold u the 4 weeks old puppy is very irresponsible... puppies should stay with their mum until they're 8 weeks old...

Is it possible for you to tell us what petshop did you buy your dog for? Cause 4 weeks old is really too young and they have not enough immune system to go around yet. Sides, 4 weeks old will cause behavior problems in the future so please do take note bout it.

Samee, to isolate a puppy is to mean to keep away the puppy from any dog's or cats contact so that the germs or sickness won't touch the pup. Please correct me if I am wrong.

4 weeks old puppy is too young for vaccine because they still got immune from their mother's milk so the vaccine is useless. Plus too much vaccine will trigger their neuron system and dangerous to the puppy. I had a Pugs who RIP because 2nd vaccine trigger her seizure and she only 3 months old and too young to fight the epilepsy. She was scheduled to take the vaccine as suggested by Vet but before that she taking antibiotic for her eyes infection.
