Default Feline Panleukopenia (FPV)

My 2 and a half month kitten, Blizzard, is just being diagnosed with FPV. It's really heartbroken because he's only being with our family for one month. He had his first vaccination last month and scheduled for booster on this Feb 15 and I keep him strictly indoor.

He was being his usual hyperactive self on Friday but became completely inactive yesterday and only ate few kibbles. I tried give him different types of wet food and his fave steamed chicken but he just looked at them. He vomitted colorless liquid with bubbles at 3am and we rushed him to emergency room. The vet diagnosed him with gastric but insisted on running complete blood count test and viral test. He's FPV positive.

Some people might say I'm being paranoid for bringing Blizzard to ER simply because he vomitted. If not because of my paranoia, I have no clue what would happened to Blizzard.

Our Blizzard is currently in intensive care and I really hope that all animal lovers here to pray for his best. I know it's a 50-50 chance but I'm hoping the best for him.

Good work! Yes, some people might say you're paranoid, but the same people would probably wait so long to bring their own cat to the vet that it would be too late.

When a cat won't eat, is lethargic, and having diarrhea or vomiting, something is wrong. Don't post questions on Facebook or Petfinder, don't wait and see what might happen next -- bring the animal to a vet clinic. You were not being paranoid, you were being sensible!

I am sorry to read that Blizzard is FPV-positive, and I send best wishes his way, and I wish you a lot of strength and patience, too.

Thanks maneki. Just got a call from the vet. Blizzard had passed away this morning. Thanks to all who prayed for him.
