Default How I see it: Adoption Drives

Hi all,

Adoption drives are becoming very successful in bringing new hopes to many fur-kids =)

I am very happy for them.

However, I speculate problems that might arise as a result from the mushrooming of adoption drives. Hence, I would also like to speak out my concern about the possibility that adoption may lead to abandonment once again. I sincerely hope that I am only being a little paranoid on this matter.

I am judging this based on the many abandonment cases that was made known to me. We get a puppy or kitten because they are cute and lovable; but the feeling are slowly being reduced by their behaviour (if not trained properly), their health problems (if not taken care properly) and potentially discouraging words (which you might not even realise it until you get so stressed out just by hearing that same line of words from some other people). Then the days that follow will bring you stress and tiredness in cleaning up the mess they create.

Well, if you know of friend who is complaining about this problem; This is the DANGER SIGN!!

They need to talk to the correct people. People who are sincerely animal lovers will be the correct people.

Comments or 'advices' like "Make sure you don't abandon your pet halfway" is not a help at all. I personally categorise this statement as a stress bomb.
*Personal experience, really...

You will know the correct advice when what the lines not only try to advice you on how to train your pet properly, but also how to mend your relationships.

I personally like watching Caesar Milan when I feel I'm off the track in training my puppy.

Maybe you can try too =)

As a conclusion, it is important that you realise the time with your puppy is about a decade (more than a decade if you care for them properly). Don't adopt or buy out of impulse and throw them out when you get bored of them. This will only brings back the cycle of abandonment and waste all efforts of us trying to get them a PERMANENT loving home, a chance to live again.

If you think you are not up for it, let the cute little fur-kid get a chance to step into a home ready to accept and keep him/her.

Cheers~
