Default Hierarchy Ranking Lost - What Can I do?

Dear All,
Pakcu really think that Argo now had lost his hierarchy ranking to other cats. Previously, he's the one will always followed me everywhere, jump to my bed, meowing for my attention, curling at my praying mat when im praying, sleep with me, quite playful with other cats and super healthy eating habit. Now, no more, though his eating habit still healthy but not quite superb. Rimba has taken all that.
Pakcu had lost Alfio due to this problems and dont really2 want to endure the same experience with Argo. Argo now is on medications for fungus and probably this is only the side effects. But, the Vet did mentioned this reoccuring might be because of stress related issue, and Pakcu tend to believe that.
Pakcu really want to believe that this is all due to the medications side effect, but please advise should the otherwise is true.
Kalau ada kengkawan yang having this problems and had successfully resolved, beritahu ler macamana k. Pakcu bimbang ni....
Thank You All.
Ps :- Kalau tak tahu kucing Pakcu yang mana satu, do visit pakcu nyer profile, (albums pic of my babies) semua ada kat situ. Kucing lain tak de masalah.

Default Re: Hierarchy Ranking Lost - What Can I do?

Hi pakcu

don't worry about it , i mean don't be anxious that something will go wrong. it's very natural progression. it will soon pass as the cats themselves will finally settle down in their new hierachy.

your argo like my nicky is recovering from his illness therefore can't do much to wrestle back the top spot from his sibling. i'm sure one day nicky and agro will wrestle back top spot.

in the meantime, make sure you showered him with lots of love (you know your cat's temperament what he likes and when he likes to be fuss and how to be fussed over), play with him if he's up to it.

if you don't already have a cat tree, now it's a good time to buy one. or make toys at home to play with them.

spend equal time with each cat and fuss over them all equally. if you see them fighting try to break it up gently and give each cat a reprimand also a hug afterwards.

or you may want to give them special treat (like i feed my cats kibbles only so a treat means delicious canned cat food).

these are some of the methods we're employing with nicky.

nicky fell sick at the same time we neutered ginger. ginger returned to us like a few months ago after 5 months missing. ginger ranked 4th. however ginger recovered from his surgery faster than nicky. therefore ginger wrestled top spot from nicky and coco. coco also not happy cos she thought she could be top cat. ginger and coco ended up spraying urine all over the house, last place being my bundle of unfolded clothes on my bed on my favourite shirt! nicky reacted by withrawing into himself and sulking more.

we want them all to be relatively stress free and happy so we employed the above method. it seems to work but then i'm also employing another method - i'm using feliway too. remember i mentioned it in the catshow sponsorship thread.

you try the other methods first before you use feliway. i used it as a last resort (bought it masa nicky fell sick, samantha and gabriel came into our lives, ginger came back - all of these happened almost selang seli - like at the same time - crisis crisis so i had no choice but to try feliway).

yes, if a cat is happy, the fungus infection will clear up naturally. samantha came to my house with some fungus infection which the vet suspected of being stress-induced. didn't clear up with medication but gave her diarrhea. so i try to give her lots of love, etc and her fungus infection cleared up quickly.

same for my cats. previous to all this, they had some sort of "fungus" infection in the sense they lost their hair on their ears very fast and no visible sign of skin disease. doctor didn't give medication but asked us to observe and interact more with them. after 1 month, clear up. but we also kept them indoors from that time onwards and employ alternative method to keep them stimulated and engaged.

they are very intelligent and get bored easily - you can see it in their dulled eyes.

don't worry pakcu, take it easy, they pick up on our emotions and may react accordingly even though they may not know the reason or understand it.

so bertenang and be happy
