Food for cats with no front teeth
Salam & hi semua..
Minta maaf sebab asyik2 saya je buka thread minta bantuan. Banyak betol masaalah..
Macam ni, mama saya ada kucing Persian tapi muka tak le flat sangat umur dalam 2 tahun setengah...masaalah nya kucing ni dah tak de gigi depan...taring depan adelah...so kesian dia bila nak makan kibbles.
Kalau sapa2 yang boleh rekomen kibbles jenis apa (selain wet food) untuk kucing bermasaalah macam ni silalah bagitahu ye...selama ni kibbles tu dia telan je atau kena suap.
Apa2 pertolongan amat dihargai...

Re: Food for cats with no front teeth
Kuntum,
Kucing baru 2 tahun, apa pasal dah tak der gigi ?
Kesian dia. Kena pasang gigi palsu kot.
My old cat dulu pun kurang gigi. Kibbles dia kena dibasahkan biar lembut, mula mula dia tak nak makan. So campur sikit sikit tuna dlm tin baru dia makan. Tp teruk gak nak kena beli satu tin tuna selang 2-3 hari. Kdg dah desperate lapar pasal kami lambat beri makan (bila pi shopping lupa nak balik rumah), dia telan jer kibbles tuh. Lepas tuh buat muka kesian (... you tortured meee...), tp bila dpt ayam rebus berketul ketul dia telan tak pulak buat muka kesian.
Bulat biji mata dia mintak nak lagi.

Re: Food for cats with no front teeth
Kuntum, It’s very common for a cat’s eight tiny incisors to fall out. Frequently, they do this on their own over time without much of a problem, and many cats are missing most of their incisors by the time they are just 5 years old.
If you are seeing any of his incisors, they are certainly hanging on by just a thread, and if you can get him to hold still, you are likely to be able to pull them out with no problem at all.
However, the canines ("taring" - sometimes called the fangs), are a different story. These teeth are very deeply rooted, since it’s what cats use to hold onto struggling prey. A bad canine tooth doesn’t often fall out easily and usually requires surgical removal.
Most often, when you see canine teeth beginning to show when they hadn’t before, it’s because of a problem called resorptive lesions which are forming. Essentially, the body has decided to attack the ligament that holds the tooth in place and break down the root of the tooth. As this happens, the part of the tooth that is normally buried deep under the gum is pushed farther and farther out of the gum, resulting in longer teeth, which now protrude out of the mouth. When there are resporptive lesions on the upper teeth, the kitty has a vampire look, and when there are resorptive lesions on the lower teeth, he may have a bulldog look.
Eventually, once the ligament and root of the tooth have been eaten away, there is no longer anything to anchor the rest of the canine tooth in place, and it falls out. It’s preferred not to wait the process out, as it can take over a year for this to happen, and it’s quite a painful process that often leads to infection. Removal of the affected teeth by a veterinarian is suggested.
As long as the cat does not depend on hunting for his meals, he will generally survive just fine without his canines, although an outdoor cat may also depend on his canines for self-defense. Hopefully you live in a peaceful area, and this is of no concern.
Tapi nasib baik kucing Kuntum masih ada taring dia.

Re: Food for cats with no front teeth
Kuntum,
Incisor teeth are used for grabbing food, tearing bits of tissue away from bone, and grooming.
Your cat will have difficulty grabbing its food. Also because it cannot tear the daging from the bone, it may try to swallow together with the bone which can fracture in the stomach and intestine during digestion causing great pain by poking into the intestine wall, even getting lodged inside the body, etc and may require surgery otherwise lama-kelamaan it will suffer a very painful death.
Also, it will have difficulty grooming itself because it cannot bite and tug at the fur.

Re: Food for cats with no front teeth
Cantik nyer dier !
Mandikan guna clorox ker ?
Furkid,
You talked abt cats' teeth protruding tuh, is it something like gums receeding in humans ? Can this be avoided during the cat's younger yrs i.e. masa kittens, and anything to do with the food with give them ?
As my cats grow older, i do notice that some of them start losing the front teeth. But ada juga yg 4-5 yrs old and only lost 2 front teeth.
Another thing, i noticed that the cats yg dah hilang gigi nih, they can still lick boiled fish totally clean sampai tinggal bones yg masih intact (sb dia tak gigit). Is it ok to give boiled fish, 2x per day, for the rest of their life ? I've read some internet articles which said fish is not good for cats. But can't seem to find it now for reference (lupa pulak if it's in this forum).
