To avoid a cat fight ? ? ?
Salam and hi guys,
just wonder if there's a way to avoid your cats from fighting with each other. My problem started when i adopted another male, about the same age as my Bee (maybe around 5 months old) and this new boy is very much bigger than Bee (it's a mixed breed). This 2 boys can't get along with each other and from my observation they'll get into a nasty brawl if i let them... the only reason that i can think off is becoz they are at the same age. Bee didn't have a problem with Romeow (a month + male) eventhough most of the time he'll avoid this little fella. At the moment, i kept this new boy (Rain) in a cage and will let him out when Bee is inside the house.
I'm sure this a normal but is there anyway i can speed up the peace process between this 2 boys?
Another thing, semalam baru 1st time i tengok kucing berebut pasir dlm litter tray... it's between Bee and Romeow. I baru ganti pasir dlm tray tu, the letak jer kat dlm rumah, terus Romeow terkam masuk dlm tray tu sambil kaut pasir tu kearah dia (walhal baru melepas sebelum i ganti pasir tu)... then Bee jumped in and did the same thing previously, i had 2 trays but i changed them with a big aluminum tray coz it's much bigger (utk buat kek rasanya tray ni ).. mmg terkejut tengok sebab nampak 2 ekor ni mcm desperate utk kumpul pasir tu, berebut-2.... habis melimpah pasir (tak terkira entah berapa kali kena sapu rumah dah). Utk beli litter tray yg separuh tertutup tu rasanya tak berbaloi, mahal sangat rasanya. So sekarang ni kena hambat sekor-2 kalau dorang berebut.. bukan nak poo pun tapi mcm nak compete jer...

Already had that idea in mind, but only 1.. and of course not my badly injured Bee.. I think Rain is ready for that... so what about the recovery process? how long?
Btw, the previous owner kata dia serik nak neuter kucing dia lagi sebab yg ada sekarang ni nyaris mati lepas operate, bleeding. So guys, kucing nampak suffer tak during the healing process?

Itu salah tuan punyer kucing sondrik sobab tak mengkaji latar belakang orang yg pakai gown putih pegang pisau buat pembedahan tersebut. Pertama, adakah beliau vet yg bertauliah.
Mengenai mcm mana nak kamcengkan kucing tu, bukan semua kucing boleh kamceng (mcm manusia sampai tua pun benci gaduh tak serasi). Sebab tu lah saya tak percaya tambah kucing akan buat kucing sedia ada kurang lonely. Kalau ngam tak per, kalo tak ngam, huh ... WWIII lah seumur hidup!

Ok, thanks for the input. Most probably i'll do it at UPM...
i'm quite sure kucing ni lebih kurang mcm binatang lain... so kalau dah hampir nak mature, sure yg jantan akan jadi dominan, to control his area. In my case, both male, and mating stage is getting closer. Anyway, this is not the reason for me to neuter the cat...

Re: To avoid a cat fight ? ? ?
Jangan hantar UPM, kawan, saya pernah jumpa orang yg buat keputusan tak mahu hantar sana lagi because of very, very bad experience. Potong besar, pastu jahitan terbuka dan luka bernanah. Kucing hampir mati, kesakitan teramat-amat pada kucing kesayangan yg nyaris mati! Ngeri!
Ikut cakap June hantar ke Klinik Kembiri sebab klinik tu specialise benda tu sahaja, jadi pasti akan do a good job. Setiap pembedahan membawa risiko dan oleh kerana itu, kita mesti sedaya upaya dapatkan vet surgeon yg handal. Anak bulu pun akan kurang sakitan, sembuh cepat dan beban kita ringan.

Adussss... i pun boleh rasa ngilu !
dan baru teringat, masa 1st time mandikan Si Rain ni, terpegang ketulan lembut betul-2 kat tengah perut dia.. terlupa nak double check balik sebab huru hara masa nak mandikan dia hari tu... dan dia mcm sakit bila i pegang dekat ketulan tu... Size agak besar jugak, lebih kurang besar guli kaca yg berwarna-2 tu... tak kan belly button dia kot?
so far tak nampak masa bulu dia kering.

Hi Halim,
I'm assuming all ur cats are male. As cats are territorial animals especially amongst males, Bee may feel threatened with the presence of the new cat. And it doesn't help tht the new boy is bigger than him :)
I'm not sure what steps u took during the introduction period. Whether u had separated the new cat in a different room so Bee gets used to the new scent etc. Perhaps the intro was done too fast tht Bee is simply not ready yet. Note tht since all cats are individuals, ur methods with Bee and Romeow earlier may not work for Bee and this new fella.
I think in this case, a lot if tolerance is needed, keep trying to socialize all 3 cats with supervision.
Also, what may help is, separate their utensils as much as possible. Ideally cats shud have their own litter trays, feeding bowls etc. Unless they themselves indicate to u tht they're ready to share. Since it is in their nature to be territorial. in this case it seems tht Romeow also is starting to be territorial since dia dah berebut pasir. It may cost u more but unfortunately u may have to do this to manage the situation.
Also for Bee, shower him with TLC to show tht he is still important in the household so he feels less threatened. Another thing tht may help is Feliway which is feromone therapy thts prescribed by vets. Diorang bole tolong order.
It helps to calm stressed cats. www.feliway.com. U x pernah try but my vet says it helps.
Good luck!

Re: To avoid a cat fight ? ? ?
Yup Neuter...
Another thing.. kalau baru perkenalkan kucing.. tak boleh terus biar bertemu muka.. kena slowly jumpa.. separatekan.. biar jumpa dlm carrier berasingan / cage .. tengok reaksi macam mana. Satu lagi cara, ambil kain gosokkan ke muka kucing A, letak kain tu dlm bilik kucing B dan vice versa. Biar durang biasa dgn scent/bau masing2.
Good luck
Saya pun sama cam Kak June, 3 ekor semua neuter kat Klinik Kembiri, alhamdulillah semua ok. (Of coz kena kurung durang lepas operation at least 3 hari sampai luka jahitan kering).

Re: To avoid a cat fight ? ? ?
My Bubu amik masa almost 3 bulan nak terima kehadiran ChiChi, walhal si kecik tu baru umur 2 bulan (at that time) compared to Bubu yg dah 3 years plus. Kesian tgk ChiChi, puas dia cuba nak 'berbaik2' tapi Bubu tak suka. May be sebab cara ChiChi agak agresif, dia nak bergusti dgn Bubu yg size lebih besar dari dia (dgn tujuan nak bermain la kot), mana la Bubu nak layan. Dia pun dah 'tua', dah malas nak bergusti bergumpal2. What I did in the beginning was, cuba bagi diaorg bersosial pelan2. Bubu sentiasa on my lap. I cakap baik2 dgn dia, belai2 & gosok2 dia. Tak nak dia terasa yg I dah tak sayang dia. I told him that ChiChi kecik lagi, so Bubu kena beralah. I never scolded him walaupun kdg2 geram dgn dia. Memang Bubu will be snarling all the time, tapi alhamdulillah...mungkin cara I cakap baik2 dgn dia tu berkesan... by now, dia dah ok. Dia dah tak kesah pun dgn ChiChi (dulu, masuk rumah pun tak nak bila dia nampak kawan tu)...jangan ChiChi ajak dia bergusti jer, dia memang tak suka. Yg bagusnya Bubu tak pernah kasik penampar kat ChiChi...dia cuma marah jer...in the same time, tak pernah dia lick ChiChi (I try mandikan dua2 ekor bersama2 sebab Zai kata cara tu boleh bagi diaorg berbaik, but it didn't work). Abis kuat dia sniff2 jer, pastu dia blah, lepak kat port nyuruks dia....

Yup, all male and you're rite all the way. Bee will run away or when i touch him after i took the other 2 boys, especially Rain. Bee will shuts himself up in the corner when my kids start to fooling around with the new little joker (Romeow). Since Rain is quite bulky, he knocked everything down when he try to run away from being chased by Romeow. My son had a nice scratch mark on his back when Rain ran over him. He still nervous and jumps off if there's a sudden motion moves quickly around him. So, most of the time, i've got to put Rain in the cage.
As suggested, i bought another few sets of utensils on my way back from the office this evening. Now each and every one of them have their own sets + that new semi covered litter tray as well
For Bee, of course he'll get a xtra attention from us and still sharing my bed
A very useful info though
Back to the plan to neuter Rain, i need to sent him for a vaccination 1st...

I do hope it helps....introducing new cats into the household is quite stressful. I went through it a couple of months back :) I got myself a female which helped because males would generally take longer to get along. But I had other problems. My newly neutered male (Dexter) got really stressed when I brought in Sophie (the female Ragdoll) and he got into heat eventhough he was already castrated.
So I had to put up with weeks of wailing and yowling
But when he calmed down, it's all good
I had 2 sets of everything but eventually they started using eachother's litter pans which made me realise that they're okay sharing. So now, only one litterpan. Phewwwwh! And I've even started using litterkwitter so they both can use human toilets at the end of it Hopefully that'll work out.
Do update us on progress - it may take a while so kena sabar banyak2 cos all 3 of your babies are males

To avoid a cat fight ? ? ?
Luckily my 2 boys Peterpan & Pokemon are receptive towards newbie.Pasal tu kami panggil Peterpan Penghulu.he will meow to any cats passing by our unit.mcm kata "hello!! apa kabar?? org baru ke?? meh sini.kenal2"
probably because I neutered them the moment they reach 6 mths old.tak nak bg durang mature and spray the whole house.dats why neuter durang awal2

Wallawei, i tot neutered animals will lost their mating desire? not only animals, orang pun boleh bunuh diri maa!! it's sound to me like "mati pucuk" already or maybe this will only happened when neutered process was done a bit too late?
Another thing is, i've got no idea how old is he... and whether i can sent him for neuter without vaccination...

To avoid a cat fight ? ? ?
In some cases, neuter male cat still go on heat but not as bad as before they were neuter. this mostly happen when you neuter your male cat when they already sexually mature.so the desire still there. tp paling penting neuter male cat tak spray merata2 & gaduh2 rebut kucing betina atau rayau2 sana sini.
