Dog-friendly places?
Hi all! Does anyone know of any dog-friendly places/parks in KL/Selangor?
I'm running out of ideas where to bring my doggie out. She loves to go out and always perks up when she heard the word 'kai-kai' (jalan-jalan). Is there a community where owners and their dogs meet and hang out once a week or something? Do lemme know. Thanks in advance! Cavey |
Re: Dog-friendly places?
Cavey, ou brought up a good point. Malaysia needs more Doggy Parks!! What we'll do is develop a directory where PetFinder members will be able to suggest and recommend doggy parks around malaysia. Coming soon!!

Re: Dog-friendly places?
Yeah, and let's setup speed dating for doggies in the doggy parks.. each dog gets to sniff at the other's butt for 10 seconds, introduce himself in 3 barks, and see if any get lucky with love at first smell haha...
And not for forget hamster parks where tens of thousands of hamsters can run their lil' furry legs off at big mills to generate free renewable environment-friendly electricity for the entire neighbourhood... |

Re: Dog-friendly places?
cavey,
if free u can try 1U central park i think they allow on weekends morning....i try before no prob ther.... dog is my buddy, i also did da same thing in subang jaya...as my bf is working for YB hannah but as he said doing petition and a good proposal is not enough normally this involved public hearing wher residents will vote...if ther is any "bantah" for any one da whole effort for the petition and proposal will go down da drain.... he also told me....this ppl who bantah will use points lik health concern issues to bantah the proposal...so ....u understand y it takes me so long to propose a dog friendly park |
Re: Dog-friendly places?
Thanks for the suggestion, mw_pon!
Well, i think some parks are underutilized anyway, why can't they open for pets too so that more people will frequent those parks? Fancy seeing some reptiles in the park, anyone?? :P |
Re: Dog-friendly places?

Re: Dog-friendly places?
I usually bring my dogs to:
1. Centre Park 1Utama, 2. Ikano Power Centre (although no park to run around, but can do shopping toys with your dog{happy}) 3. Bukit Kiara near 1 Utama (in the morning and evening usually have lots of dogs there, monkeys as well.) Even though the parks have the sign that says no dogs should be there, i don't care. As long as i pick up the poops, they have no reasons to complain. {cool} |
Re: Dog-friendly places?
you need place a sign as above. You going be a dog hero. We going do at penang.

Bukit Kiara sounds like a nice place. I wonder if monkeys get along with doggies? :P |
Re: Dog-friendly places?
Have to be on leash all the time la. I Ikano, there are big and small dogs shopping along with their owners, as long as they are on leash. There are plastic bags provided for you to pick up the poops.
Bukit Kiara is very nice to tire your dogs out. Just one climb of the hill, they already want me to carry them. Better leash your dogs if you don't want the monkeys to kidnap the dogs. {sweat} |
Re: Dog-friendly places?
Please place a sign board, DOG ALLOW at Bukit Kiara!!!ahhaahha
|
Re: Dog-friendly places?
Or a sign board saying
"Beware of Monkeys" |

Re: Dog-friendly places?
My favourite dog-friendly place is Waterfront, Desa Park City.
All the outdoor restaurants are dog friendly, One Noodle, La Casa, Fitou and Rakuzen. Just had dinner at La Casa (love the pasta). My dog's favourite "kai-kai" and dog meeting place is during weekends at the park. Lovely place for my pom-chi to socialize with all the different dogs there. Another dog friendly park is the one at 1Utama. Plenty of dog owners bringing their pride and joy for walks there. Other dog friendloy restaurants I know of are in Centerpoint Bandar Utama. Champs (1st floor) and the Bah Kut Teh restaurant (ground floor), I also just discovered another dog friendly restaurant in Kota Damansara. The Penang Wok (at The Strand) owned by a Penangite by the name Robert Yeoh. The friendly owner has a very sweet pomeranian (Ling Ling) and he regularly gets request to bring her to the table for the customers to cuddle up with! He brought Ling Ling out to socialize with my pom chi this afternoon during lunch. |
Re: Dog-friendly places?
I've heard that dogs and their people gather at the padang in front of YMCA in Brickfields on Sunday mornings. There are training classes, and just plain socialisation and fun!

Re: Dog-friendly places?
JoePrince >> Thanks! I've never been to Desa Park City. You meant to say there is a park there too besides those eating outlets? That sounds interesting and definitely worth going :)
I've also just heard of this outlet, www.palatepalette.com in the center of KL, which allows dogs in on Saturdays. The only rule is you have to sit outdoor if you bring along your poochies. I have yet to stop by this outlet, but from the reviews online, the food sounded great :) Maneki >> Thanks for the info! :) I think I saw agility training going on when I passed by one Saturday morning. |
Re: Dog-friendly places?
Hi Cavey,
yes there is a huge park that the restaurants overlook, in addition there's a lovely lake filled with fishes in the middle of this park. Great for our doggies to "exercise their owners" there. Just discovered another new dog friendly restaurant. It's called Ipoh Chicken Rice in Giza, the recently opened mall in Kota Damansara. Even the waiters can't resist stopping by to play with my pom-chi. |
Re: dogs allowed restaurants/cafe?

Re: Dog-friendly places?
Hi all,
Pets Pavilion in Setia Eco Park http://www.pets-pavilion.com/petspavilion.asp Came across this today, is this place open yet? Do they have all the facilities as stated?!? There was a doggy carnival in june 2011 in setia eco park, was it in the Pets Pavilion?? I'm very anxious to find out if it's open! Thanks in advance for any replies:) |
Re: Dog-friendly places?
Yes Pets Pavillion is already open. There is a fenced up area for dogs to run but many owner do not close the gates properly so do keep an eye on it. There is a lake there for the dogs to wade and swim in but can be a little muddy like the one in Central Park.
Otherwise do check out our place in SS3, PJ, where we have a dog pool and also a big spce for them to run freely. Owners can hang out and relax in our place too. For further details, do check out our fb page http://www.facebook.com/FurrenzPets |
Re: Dog-friendly places?
Desa Park City, there is a lot of dogs jogging with their owners everyday. Just make sure you pick up the poops. A really nice place to hangout with the furry ones.

Dog-friendly places
Posting this from Amelios at Desa Park City.
This Dog friendly place is located on the first floor of The Waterfront at Desa Park City. Serves pork, pasta and all day breakfast. Tried the portobello mushroom soup and bacon pasta. Awesome! The soup is homemade and not from the can and the pasta is freshly made every day (according to the what the menu says) suffice to say the pasta taste good and is cooked just right. Other places in Desa Park is La Casa and Fitou on the ground floor. |

I have a German Shepherd puppy, 3 months old and I struggle to find any parks in Cheras area for my puppy to exercise. All parks in the area have this no dogs allowed sign. It is quite sad....
I am planning to write to the local government (DBKL), but I bet it will be ignored and probably not entertained at all. But still, I'll like to give it a go. And I will keep sending until someone actually respond to my letter. I will write to DBKL and suggest fencing up designated area for the canine. Any other suggestion on how we should go about it? |
Re: Dog-friendly places?
Here are some ideas you can use to get some dog-friendly parks from your municipal council.
First demand for security: 1. Police security patrol your parks on hourly basis. 2. Insist on CCTV installation for security & make sure people do not do scandalous acts at the park. 3. Insist the parks inside housing estates be gated to keep out strangers, only residents and council people (for maintenance work) can go in. Second provide solution: We all know they ain't going to spend anything on us so then we demand they let us walk the parks with our dogs as our personal bodyguard. Third must be responsible: 1. Assure the general public & council droppings will be picked up. 2. Must be on leash at all times. 3. Owners must be responsible not to bring a sick dog out. 4. Do not leave dogs unattended. 5. Watch out for people abandoning their dogs. If the above doesn't work then you've gotta twist their arm abit more. Get independent newspapers or go viral on the net with tag lines like "parks unsafe & authorities do nothng". Don't twist too much else you might end up in jail {sick} |
