What is ideal poo for kitty?
 

Dear brothers and sisters,

Can u help me to describe how does the ideal poo for kitty look like? My kitty, sometimes it keras, warna cerah, and sometimes it lembut, kaler cerah.. last time my other cat pernah kaler dark.. When I bring to the vet, he said my kitty is very healthy and got no problem at al..
I still cant figure out camana rupa poo yang sihat.
I heard poo can indicate kitty health status.. Can please someone enlighten me on this? Thank you.{muacks}

erm, actually i'm not really knowing all of cat problem. but i'm try to give my opinions....
Kalo njis kocin jd cmtu rsanya normal. sbb kalo kocin yg njis dier cair mmg da problem. kalo just kaler warna2 cmtu....myb makanan dier kot.
xtaw la sbb i bkn vet. i just kasi opinion. i pun penah bela kocin mse i kecik2 dlu. just my experience jer.{cool}

rata rata kami yg kasih mkn blackwood taik durang mcm buah kana {shy}{shy} warna coklat kehitaman. tp klu ada warna merah dah tak normal tu {sweat} ada byk sebab jd camtu.makanan satu hal,mgkn juga dia ada pendarahan kat dlm.kucing jantan ke betina?? klu cair dan light coklat tu mmg ada something wronglah.

Jantan.ada kemungkinan tak dia kena Urinary Tract?? Selalu terjadi sama kucing jantan.Tp itu klu bladder problem {sweat} blh minta vet chk betul2. taik lembik2 cair ke Farah?? klu cair mmg ada kurang sihatlah tu biasanya.

nasib baik takde kucing2 akak yg sakit2 serius.klu tak nak memikirkan $$$$ pun rasa nak demam dah. {sweat}{sweat}

Biasanya..kalau kekerapan poo dia normal (dalam 3x sehari).. bila pergi vet, dia akan bagi ubat putih untuk diminum ( ni vet government.. vet private maybe akan buat test kot...?).. lepas bagi ubat minum tu a few times, poo dia firm aje, terus stop bg ubat tu..........

Kucing saya selalu jugak kena soft poo now and then.. so saya tak risau sangat.

Kalau selalu kena soft poo, dah bg ubat pun x jalan.. cuba bagi dia makan Natural Balance Green Pea & Duck Formula sampai poo dia firm, pastu slowly integrate dia bagi makan BW.

Sekor kucing saya kena cirit-birit teruk sebelum ni (almost 3 minggu cirit).. sampai tahap pergi vet dia bg ubat anjing {cry}.. saya bagi dia makan Natural Balance Green Pea & Duck Formula tu lepas Kak Zai (Adamyala) recommend.. dalam sebulan lepas tu ok dah.. sekarang dia makan BW aje {good}{good}

A good poo will the one that form, it does not necessary have to be very dry all the time but it shud form. If you are getting regular soft poo it cud be related to various factor, possible bacteria viral, maybe infested with worm parasite, dry food not suitable for your cat, ate too much or drink too much, dry food with very high protein shud be on control feeding as this type of food when ate too much can always lead to soft poo. Observe if poo contain blood stain, if you had send your cat to the vet for examination then most likely the vet wud had been able to know if it is due bacteria viral or worm. If non of the following is the reasons then you shud observe your cat feeding, if he is eating too much, reduce feeding for a few days to see if the poo is still soft.

So far no blood in the poo observed yet..
This morning his poo still soft, light in color and shapeless.. more important he meowing alot when "pooing".. I am littlte bit worried.{scared}

I've face this similar problem with my kitten recently. This happens after I treat him with softfood instead of his usual RC kibbles. His stool seemed to be not just soft but jellyish in orange colour. Since he was purging badly, I've sent him to a vet and the doc says it was worm.it took him 3 weeks to recover after doing deworming, antibiotics and diarrhea meds.

I suspect the wet food that causes that to happen, but then another kitten dat is staying with him OK je. No purging & soft stool. I wonder. {sick}

aahh!!! sama ngan kitten boo!! lately ni boo kerap bg wet food kat dier coz dier sker sngt mkn wetfood...guling2 mintak nkn wetfood...bg kibbles mkn seketoi pastu lari...
pastu smlm dia stat yak cair2....kaler ceklat gelap n kdng2 cair...
mesti saket pwot kan....si ceemee 2 x kena dworm lgik 2....

Does the stool have foul smell? Yikes! {cry2}Mesti tak tahan kan? During the 3 weeks, I have to bear with his with badly purging and foul stool smell which caused me to change, wash and disinfect the entire litter sand and cage everyday. Every time my kitten wants to do his business, macam tak cukup tanah berlari pi kat litter tray to. Adehh~ rasa cam nk bagi je my kitten tu pakai pampers. Hihii The vet’s med does cost a little, but then what to do. I’d rather have their stool solid than having the entire area smeared with their soft stool around! Yikes! {cry2}

yala...bau satu hal..dia saket lg satu hal...da nak kena p klinik satu hal...sian kat kitten la...kita saket pwot pon dok bertuala 24jam....{grin}
nak2 klu dia x sempat nak buang kat litter tray 2 mau dia buang ikot dan dia...da satu hal nak besihkan poo dia yg cam agar2 x jadik tu{sick} smlm si ceemee 2 poo kat atas tilam kesayangan boo kat depan tb...kita dala ngantok...time 2 kol 12pm plak...{ohmygod}
nak mara nama pon meow kan....so sabor jela....da tengah2 mlm kena wat keja sowang2. tilam plak 2 tebal...berat nak angkut jemuq...hubby da wat muka kerang dia soh kita la cuci sb kita yg nak bela meow sngt....{shy}
then kita pon kena jugak jaga kebersihan diri lepas bersihkan poo dia...yala...bakteria kan....baek bg dia sehat dari biar dia saket....sb kita pon saket jugak nnt{ohmygod}{ohmygod}{grin}

Just came back from vet, the doc said my kitten got cirit-birit, dan mungkin salah makan jugak. So amik ubat deworm, ubat cirit birit, ubat keraskan poo dia ngan vitamin C. All cost me only rm35 .{happy}
Now dia dah tido, penat kot menjerit-jerit dalam clinic tadi. Sempat jugak dia melepas dlm carrier dia sebelum sampai rumah td.. {ohmygod}{ohmygod}
Alahai letih macam ada anak kecik lak.

akak senang je cakap dgn husband.klu ada anak nanti,klu u tak tlg sama2 jaga mcm mana?? karang I berenti kerja dok rmh jaga anak je lg bagus.sebab u tak mau tolong. mcm tu gak dgn kucing.kenalah tlg menolong.ini training utk klu ada anak apa kita blh commit ke tak {wink} sejak dari tu,tak payah disuruh,dia tau punya.klu tgk akak msh tido dia tlg kemas litterbox dan bg kucing mkn.heheheh!!

hubby akan buang poo/pee meow or mandikan meow time boo x sehat je.
klu sehat dia just bg mkn or bg susu kat kitten. so lepas ni boo bersalin da wat perjanjian da dia kena tolong wat suma 2....heh..
so far alhamdulillah la klu keperluan meow saket ka mkn minum or litter abeh hubby tolong gak belikan. cuma bab2 nak mandi n buang poo/pee dia xmau.
tunggu la ada baby dendri klu dia x mau mmg kena sembuq la....
seb bek anak2 bulus je dia berkira. kena anak snedri berkira mmg naik minyak la mak budak neh.....{shy}

NORMAL
Most cats have one or two stools a day. The stool is brown and the odor is strong, but not rancid. The cat may 'push' it out, but will not strain or vocalize pain.

ABNORMAL
Abnormal stool can be divided into three categories, outlined below.

Diarrhea (loose, unformed stool)

Color:
yellow or greenish
indicates rapid transit

black and tarry
indicates bleeding in the upper digestive tract

bloody stool
red blood or clots indicate lower bowel (colon) bleeding

pasty, light colored stool
indicates lack of bile (liver disease)

large, gray rancid smelling stool
indicates inadequate digestion

Consistency:
soft bulky stool
often seen when cats are overfed or receive poor-quality food high in fiber

watery stool
indicates bowel wall irritation (acute enteritis, ingested toxins) with rapid transit and impaired absorption

Frequency:

Constipation (defined as the infrequent passage of small, hard, dry stool)

When feces are retained in the colon for two or three days, they become dry and hard. This results in straining and pain during defecation. Most cats have one or two stools a day, but some cats have a bowel movement every two or three days. Such cats are quite likely to be constipated.

Straining also occurs with colitis and the feline urologic syndrome (FUS). Be sure the cat is not suffering from one of these conditions before treating for constipation. An overlooked bladder outlet obstruction, for example, is especially serious since it can produce damage to the kidneys and result in death.

Blood

blood with loose stool
indicates coccidiosis (mucus-like) or hookworms

blood with normal stool
indicates stress, worms, anal gland problem or injury to anal sphincter

blood with constipated stool
straining

Anyway, today my Bobo refuse to eat anything. I gave him Blackwood, Whiskas, and the latest is boiled-fish. He keep meowing, demanding me to pet him, so I rubbed him and he purred alot.{ohmygod}{ohmygod} After drink some water, he went to his port and sleep. His stool still cair, I think now become more cair than yesterday.{sick}
I was wonder why this little boychange his appetite so fast.{scared}{sweat} Is that due to he is in pain.. so he refuse to eat. Should I try boiled-chicked now?

Farah, please give you boboy lightly boiled chicken (the juice in the chicken is pink color) in very little water or steamed chicken - remember, no salt, no msg, no rempah, only kosong - ONLY (no other food allowed) until after his poo has formed well and hardens like ulas durian. Give him the thick delicious soup from the boiled or steamed chicken.

Very, very important: DO NOT give him any dry kibbles or wet canned food (too high sodium) but ONLY GIVE him boiled/steamed chicken breast (without skin) until for some time AFTER his poo has appeared nice looking ... {shy}.

Mash up the chicken meat with clean fingers washed with soap and rinsed well with water.
