Cat Enclosure
 

Hi Catlovers,

i'm planning to build a cat enclosure for my kids but still haven't had ideas on how the design would be. Been googling around but mostly houses in abroad which is not really suitable with the current house i'm living in. Could you guys suggest any websites yang ada bab design enclosure ni or probably person that i could contact to?

nak build lepas raya ni cause my kids dah restless dok dalam cage jer. once dapat lepas keluar, habis pulak my furniture they scratched. now, i had to keep them in my wet kitchen which they have "destroyed" successfully. especially when it comes to penyapu lidi and dustbin.

gosh, you sound as if you have many cats. hmm, let me guess? 8 furkids? :-P

wow, lucky you, you have resources, i.e. space, land, to build enclosure.

that's a good idea. i'm sure there are forumers here who can share their ideas with you. in the meantime, perhaps you may want to provide alternatives for them to scratch, after scratching is natural to them - to sharpen their nails, to leave a "calling card", to remove dead nails, etc.

any sturdy piece of wood, whether positioned horizontally or vertically will do but if placed vertically maybe kena make sure it is stable also.

i know what you mean, i myself have googled the same topic from time to time, drooled {high} over the picture but realised that their climate and their house-designs and land space is different from what we have here.

do keep us updated in you find a good design. also you may want to check in the DIY thread section - maybe someone has suggested ideas kat situ

i only have 5 cats lar {mblush} me so embarrased already when u mentioned that hahahahaha..only 5 cats but hopefully i could adopt more ..and the space is not that big but good enough for them to run around outdoor instead of inside my kitchen. yeah, i do find one which attracted me the most.

wow, then you're better than me. i will stop at 4. that's the magic number. not sure i can deal fairly with more than 4 :-)

i visited the links you enclosed and you're right : can only {high}{high}{high}{high}{high}

*sigh*. the weather over there is agreeable with such run - dry and not humid plus cool

if here, gotta have lots of shades - but difficult to find ample land space.

i once had an ambition to build a sort of enclosed cat run attached to my backyard but it was shot down as not practical as this will mean the security alarm to our house will be compromised. since i have not come up with an alternative idea to the alarm system, i let the matter stay on the back-burner

i totally agree with you.

as for me, i got to be extra alert in building up the enclosure since my house is near to the bushes and river, so it's prone to snakes and other reptiles. worse comes to worse, i might have to build a full-wooden shelter instead of just fencing.

about the websites, check out the cat-tunnel..very very {high}{high}{high}

at last, i managed to build up a mini enclosure for them. The stooges loved it, i assumed since they couldn't stop running around the new area. definitely bigger and cleaner compare to their previous place which was my wet kitchen area.

not so lar filin..macam beli 2 units of 3-tier cages..i spent about 600 for materials and labor cost.mintak tolong my cleaner's husband tolong buatkan..tapi the surface area quite rough cause plywood tu tak di-smoothkan with sandpaper..thinking of cover it with a transparent plastic esp area yg a bit tajam tuh..

thank you ya..lama jugak looking for someone who could do it with an affordable cost.

yeah..i ni actually 2 in 1 ni..let's say my cats dah besar..and dah tame enough to let go and they can come back home for food and shelter, takde hilang2...my mom dah plan nak jadi tempat letak periuk..hahahaha so takdeler one day wasted jadi white elephant kan..

itu lar betol..i asyik lepak situ jer everyday after work..my mom dah sound dah.."taknak bawak sleeping bag or portable tv ke dalam rumah tu"..cheit! perli pulak {shy}

yeah betol jugak..i myself pon bole smooth it with sandpaper..or beli tikar getah yg u cakap tu..good idea!!!!

Thank you nik. Sejuk hopefully tak..sebab ada rumah tu..inside the house, akak letak gak floor mat getah tu..takot simen sejuk kan..tapi pagi pagi i check them out..semua nye tidor atas kayu tu..rasanyer, kena gak letak some cloth if in case dieorg sejuk..akak sempat beli satu jer bidai, letak belah tepi jer..nampak nyer kena add up more takot tempias pulak..

thank you thank you..planning to add probably a couple more..i have 5 stooges in total..the other two were probably hiding. if i put birds, they won't have long lives!! hahahahaaha the stooges are more like catch and destroy kinda kids..even their toys pon only lasted for not more than half a day..{ohmygod}

iyyar...yang itu...tapi better kot nik..provided dieorg comfortable smua sebab dulu they all dok dalam wet kitchen..so kekadang badan dieorg pon bau kari ayam hahahahaa..and their paws slalu kuning sebab kadang2 ada oil stain terpelanting dekat lantai dapor,they would stepped on it pastu kotor..ada sekali tu..i ceduk lauk..then one of d stooges pi gigit betis akak..terkejut terus tertumpah masak lemak atas telinga dia..nasib baik tak panas!! hish..tak pasal pasal jadi kucing masak lemak hahahahahahaa

wah! lucky them! but i'm sure you'll be missing having them beside you everynite,no? so kena plan la camana u nak decorate their room ni..nak letak lots of toys, scratch pads,segala bentuk tunnel so that they would have the fun of their lives {high}

wow. congratulations. Rm600 is a good price cos it includes your 3 tiered climbing post, one cat house and over play pen. that's great.

do show us some more photos from several angles

i agree with filin - wish i have more space to give my furkids this - can only {high}{high}{high} looking at yours!

err, by the way, how do you protect from lashing thunderstorm?

but most probably i bawak emot tidor ngan i.. sebab dia dari kecik mmg x penah x tidor ngan i... kecuali kalo gi umah bf,.. then dia sibuk2 nak tido ngn bf lak...{ohmygod}..kiter di lupakn....

hhmmpphhh..i was hoping that they could be clever enough to run inside their "minangkabau" house when the thunderstorm strikes in. else, gotta buy the window blinds as soon as possible {shy}

hahahaha mestilar dia lupakan u..ada kekasih hati di sebelah..lagi best tidor dengan bf...warmth! hahahahahaha yeah true also. kekadang entah apa apa games they played with each other.paling i tak bole tahan, games cop-cop butt...my stooges suka sangat butt-touching games..bila dah cop, they will run and the other stooge will kejar them and butt-touch the other stooge pulak..sheeshh!! pervert sungguh! hahahahahahaha

wah..main gigit gigit ni..ganas! tapi comel lar kucing bile borak-borak dengan manusia..macam yo yo orrr jee..my smurf attention craver sikit..if i balik kejer, tak tegor dia..dia akan make us sampai kita layan dia...panjat kaki laa...lompat from a shelf then loncat ke bahu kita la..or ngiow sampai telinga kita jadi numb.nyaring!

okay..satu soalan yang bole dapat jawapan from googling tapi i saja nak tanyer jugak.do cats mate with their siblings? or even with their own parents?

my 2 female stooges tu dah bakal nak jadi anak dara tuh..yang ada kucing jantan pon abang-abang dia..i risau gak.if takde attraction among them, bole i tunggu 1 year baru spay.

Sarah, hari tu Jusco sales ada jual banyak selected bamboo dan wooden blinds 50% diskaun. Aku songlap banyak yang flat wooden types sebab tahan lasak dan cantik. Also provides better shade. Saya kurang suka jenis matchsticks sebab tak tahan lasak dan praktikal bagi mereka, si tomei saya ada yang suka panjat dan scratch/gigit. Tapi ada jenis murah kecik yg diperbuat drp kulit buluh yg jual RM9.90 (2' X 5'). Ini pun saya beli beberapa. Pergi la tengok ada lagi tak. I suggest you spay durang skrg.jgn tunggu 1 thn.bila durang dah 5-6 bln,umur dah cukup utk di neuter.My cats suma umur 5-6 bln I hantar neuter.tak larat nak dengar opera kat rmh. {angry}
