Doctors that have experience with hip dysplasia with puppies
 

Hi there!!

I was wondering if anyone had their puppy or dog diagnosed with hip dysplasia before
as i read it affects more of the larger breeds - mine is a golden retriever
my puppy is now 4 months old and before diagnosed
we did notice she does walk with a sway and also has a frog sit ..

Can anyone recommend any excellent reasonable vets that can give me a 2nd opinion about what i can do or what recommended surgery that can get the best results for her as i dont want her to suffer when shes old

Hi, Bakemonorabbit -- I'm very sorry to hear about your pup's problem, especially if it is hip dysplasia. This is so infuriating, because hip dysplasia is inherited. Adult dogs can be screened for it at 2 years of age, and they should never be used for breeding unless they have screened negative for this condition! Too many breeders, however, are focused solely on making money and not on the dogs' and puppies' welfare, so they never bother with screening and just breed the animals indiscriminately. {angry}

I would strongly recommend the Gasing Clinic in PJ for a second opinion. The vets there are excellent, they have great diagnostic equipment (x-ray, ultrasound, even MRI), and they will not overcharge you. Best of luck to you and your pup.

Thank you so much maneki neko! That really means alot~ and yes its so sad as the poor dog is the one to suffer. an uncle gave the dog to us so he says he doesnt know much about the breeders , but they should not be breeding anymore dogs :(
the vet recommended to do it when im going to spay her in feb to avoid her going under GA twice

its better if you click "new thread" located in the dog/puppy forum and put a title for your question - that way more people can see your query as this is the thread for puppy with hip problem at the moment.
