Today in most develop countries most cat owners are avoiding cat sand litter (Bentonite clay) & using plant base cat litter which is animal, environmental friendly & biodegradable cat litter for their furry family member. Bentonite clay cat litter do contain silica dust which is harmful to your cat respiratory system & even more deadly to the kitten shud they ingest it as the clumping will block up their digestive tract which cud easily lead to their dead.

In this case I will compare Pine litter to Bentonite clay litter.

1) Pine litter is from natural pine sawdust by product from lumber industries. (so no intentional logging of tree is require to produce it)
Bentonite sand litter is strip mined clay

Most sand litter contain artificial fragrance & chemical additives

3) Pine litter naturally neutralize ammonia
Sand litter uses fragrance to mask litter box odour.

4) Pine litter is 100% renewable & biodegradable
Strip mined clay is non-renewable resource that is non biodegradable

5) Pine litter is flushable.
Sand litter is not flushable

6) Pine litter is 100% dust free
Sand litter is never dust free even though the package said so.

7) Pine litter is very low tracking compare to sand litter or sometime non depending on your cat litter box manner
