Lynx

Has anyone ever owned a Lynx? I am wondering what the experience is like. I would love to have one, just not sure I am ready to make that kind of commitment.

I don't think there is any possibility of it happening. It is a highly protected specie.

Yes, people keep all manner of wild, non-domesticated animals as 'pets' with special permits. This does not mean that it's either advisable for the humans or humane for the animals. I'm thinking of the woman in the US who had her hands and face ripped off by her friend's pet chimpanzee, and depressed wildcats pacing back and forth in cages, wearing their teeth down by gnawing on the bars.

This is only my opinion, but I think the lynx would be happier if left in the northern forests where it lives naturally. :-(

Ha. You know you make a really good point. I remember that chimpanzee incident too. Nuts. But yea, it does seem kind of cruel. I've seen them kept in large enclosures, but I think lynxes actually are very solitary and wander that way their whole life. It would be cruel. Sucks though, I really want one! lol
