i need to bring my pet to sabah..help?..
 

i just got my new job in sabah...as the 'big' move is too sudden,unfortunately i cant bring my cat along as it takes time for all d procedures(ive checked with the gov vet in cheras..)

while being here (sabah) my sister in kl is taking care of my cat, im expecting my cat to b transported this june together with my sister as she'll be coming here by Malaysia airline(MAS)..i heard MAS hv pet cargo...

The only thing im concern is,are there any details (extra maybe) that i need to know..as moving is quite complicated for me..

she already had her vaksin n microchip..i supposed she need d petpassport and approval letter from jpv sabah (where is JPV sabah?..can somebody help me?)

is she's going to go through the quarantine process when she arrived?

how about the rate...from kl to kk?

do i need special carrier (petcargo cage)? or normal/regular cage is fine?

nearly 2 weeks here..miss her already {cry}..i hope everything goes well.. wouldnt want ur pet end up stranded at d airport..huuu

Hi,

Don't worry.
Transporting pets is quite easy once you get the hang of it.
For your information, Jabatan Haiwan KK is located in Kepayan near to the Kepayan Polis HQ.
After getting the approval to import your pet you must fax over the letter of approval to your sis and get her to go to the nearest Jabatan Haiwan here in KL to get the approval for export.
Once that is all done, you will need to bring your cat for a medical check up at the Jabatan Haiwan.
I think the rabies vacination has to be done before she goes to Sabah. This is a new requirement.
Then after all that is done you will be issued with a ceritification of health meaning that your cat is now able to travel.
Then you will need to book your cats flight through MAS Kargo.
MAS will explain to you on the details.
If you want to hand carry your cat, then you will need to coincidence your travel with the certification of health that is valid for 1 week if I am not mistaken.
IF hand carry, charges will be RM10.00 per kg.
You may put your cat in the normal cat carrier but make sure to lock it as we do not want the employees of MAS to man handled your cat.
Yes, your cat will be quarantined at the quarantine centre in Kinarut.

You can get BW from a pet shop in Taman Fortuna.
Theres only one pet shop there and it is facing the road side {happy}

hii july8.. i've transported my cat back in december 2010.. procedure senang je.. sy blh tolong explain if u want..

as for blackwood, i always bought them at pet pinnacles located in damai and kingfisher. they r the distributor of blackwood in sabah.. kalau apply for membership (rm12), blh dpt discount 10%.. so harga pun dekat2 sama dgn harga bw kat kl..

kak, no need to call the mas animal cargo if u want to hand carry the pet urself. boleh ja bawak terus but make sure at the check in counter, tell them that u are bringing pet.. lepas tu dia bawak ke security untuk tampal2 sticker.. as for the charge, last december it was rm15/kg (pet+carrier). carrier dia tu asal tough, that's enough.. kalau blh letak water bottle untuk kucing minum time2 dia nervous. hehe

Yup...... akk memang tau kalo hand carry tak payah through MAS Kargo.
MAS Kargo only if you are not traveling with your cat.

my friend's pnye eng.shorthair tak mnjadi (*kucing jntan 2 dh umur 3 taun...tp tak reti ***.. hee).. so alang2 dh nk bwk pindh sabah..thinking of spaying her..susah jgk kalau 'meroyan' ms on heat..pening2...
bcos of excessive amount of vet visit (vaksin lah..kaki terseliuh..fungus..demam..chip tagging..**kucin saye sgt cheeky n nakal..sbb 2 mcm2 jd kt dia)..tak mnyempat nk buat spaying ms kt kl sbb kesian jgk byk sgt kne cucuk2..TT__TT..
JPV sabah ada buat service spaying ke? if ade mahal tak spaying kat sini?..
searching for quite affordable place to do the spaying..sbb if kt kl ony JPV jelah quite cheap.. private vet last time buat ade la nk dkt 300...TT__TT..

Memang JPV murah tapi saya prefer wat kat Sabah Animal Medical Centre (Dr. Rashid). Harga dalam RM100 ++ je. Service pun top {good}

Hello,

Kalau nak bawa our pet as check-in luggage, do I need to do any prior arrangements with MAS? Or can I just come on the day of my flight and check-in my pet fuss-free (assuming I have all relevant documents in hand). My first time transporting from KL to KK, so a bit nervous!

A few other questions:

(1) When applying for a health certificate, can this be done at a private vet? Or do I need to do this at Jabatan Haiwan as well?
(2) Is there microchip service at Jabatan Haiwan? If yes, how much?
(3) Do I need to make an appointment with Jabatan Haiwan for the health certificate? Or can I just show up there on the day without an appointment?

I have a pet tortoise whom I love and adore. I was wondering if there are restriction to bring it in to KL. I'm from Sabah by the way.

How do I go about it....? Do I need to put him in quarantine..? and if I do, is it safe..?

Which airlines allows pet ..?

Hi Mikey -- I would suggest first contacting the Department of Veterinary Services in Putrajaya. They will be able to answer your questions about importing a tortoise and may also be able to suggest airlines. I know that Air Asia will not carry any animals whatever, so I expect MAS is your best option. Good luck!

sa mau tanya juga..kalau sa mau bawa kucing2,anjing dan rabbits sa..ada limit kah? sebab kucing sa 40 ekor,puppy 4 ekor dan rabbit 20 ekor..sa kena transfer tempat keja balik sabah bulan 8 ni..tapi bukan kk{cry} , di tawau. kalau guna MASkargo,ada terus pergi Tawau kah? atau setakat di kk? {scared}
sa pening suda...berkali2 kol itu MASkargo sama email... no answer la...
harap ada yg sudi share ya...
