We got Santa when she was 8 weeks old and immediately we trained her to pee and poo on newspaper. To train her, we have to watch her very closely. Each time she showed signs of wanting to pee or poo, we took her to the newspaper. Of course there were times that we missed and we just cleared up the mess quietly. Slowly, instead of taking her there, we showed her the way to the newspaper. She learned very quickly.
