Default Re: 50 Puppies & Dogs 4 Adoption

'Please give these pets a home'

Malay Mail

KUALA LUMPUR: If you can't resist puppies with eyes that plead: "Please take me home with you", head over to the entrance of the Starbucks outlet at Summit USJ mall this Sunday to adopt a pet for free.

The monthly adoption drive is part of the canine welfare project organised by Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB).

The project's coordinator, Christine Lai, said this month's drive will be special because there will be more than 50 puppies and dogs — rescued from the Selayang and Klang Municipal Councils’ dog pounds — up for adoption.

"These dogs have gone through hell because of the poor management there. They are healthier nowbut a handful of them have slight skin problems due to the unhygienic conditions at the pounds. But we will provide them with medication and we hope that the public will understand."

Lai said that adoption statistics at the monthly drives, which kicked off last July , varies, and is usually poor during the holidays. "We have so many puppies in need of homes as well as several adult dogs." But MDDB can only rescue more puppies and dogs after the ones with them have been adopted, added Lai.

"Unlike other quarters who usually put the dogs to sleep when they are not adopted within a certain period, we at MDDB keep them until the have found new homes. So, please help us by giving them a home," she pleaded.

The public may also donate dry and canned dog and cat food, rice, shampoo and towels during the drive from 11am till 7pm.
