And yes, Dettol had developed a very aggressive marketing strategy. But they had also drawn a lot of criticism as well. Because they could not substantiate their claims, they had to withdraw some of their advertisements as reported below:

Criticism
Dettol has continually assumed an aggressive marketing policy. Recently, a Dettol advertisement stated that chopping boards harbor 50 times more bacteria than toilet seats. The commercial also exaggerated the dangers posed by the bacteria. The advertising firm that produced the commercial could not reasonably substantiate these claims and therefore was not allowed to show the advertisement again.
