My 4 year-old golden retriever has been licking his belly and between his front legs a lot. The patches of black colored skin in his underarms were smaller last time I think, and it spreaded. Hair is thinning at these areas, am worried it will become worse. The skin below his tummy has gotten darker too if not mistaken. I used to bathe him twice a week but have reduced to once a week or two weeks as I am afraid he may have sensitive skin, thus the scratching. I read about the black skin disease, is it what it is? I will bring him to the vet next week, but any ideas on this? He prefers cold places such as aircon rooms and splashes water around all the time, is it because of the heat and that caused his skin problem?
