Cats are proud, Dogs are friendly!!

I have had cats before and it usually ignores me whereas all my doggies are always welcoming and can't wait to see me everyday...

What do you think?

Ezer, hahahaha, I've tried asking my self the same thing many times over. Are cats really proud?

But I suppose that there's a form of mysticism surrounding cats. Their Feline behavior of being elegant, graceful, clean and choosy does actually bring forth the impression that they are proud pets.

Even in Egyptian belief, Bast or Bastet was a Goddess in the form of a cat whereas Anubis was that of a dog. Bast was ordained with a feminine suffix thus leading to be called Bastet. Even then, She was depicted as this graceful and elegant animal.

Yes, there are many times which I have seen firsthand my friends' persian kitties "ignoring" our calls but sometimes @ PAWS you can sense that these furry felines just crave for attention.

Cats are a little more cautious of their surroundings I suppose therefore making them more wary of humans. Thus in ANOTHER way as well leading to the misconception that they are very proud. Dogs on the other hand, just basically give that "try first... learn later" kinda attitude which we all would like to believe as friendly.

RoyBlue, well said.. haha.. just my personal experience with cats.... I am sure a lot of them are friendly and make great pets!

Expert said cat more like independence. It no friendly as dog. But local cat more friendly.
One thing cat like going out when hear some cat calling, famale cat.............

One of my cats recognizes the engine of my car and I'll often open the door after pulling the handbrake to see him rubbing his head on my step. He comes running whenever I call him - quite unlike my last dog, a kelpie/border collie mix whose name was DJ but didn't answer equally to Gorgeous, Puppy, Thing, and Come Back Here Right Now You Godforsaken Creature.

how tame they are there is a wild instinct in every cat.......

they are not like dogs...
even stray......

you see stray cats always fighting..where else you dont get stray dogs fighting unless there is a female dog around

you always see them together for dogs and not CATS!!!!!

i see more cat fights than dog fight :)

i'm not sure whether cats are proud but i'll share with you a quote my vet told me

"Dogs have friends but cats have servants"..

that was after i mentioned to her that they seemed to be dictating and ordering me to do a lot of things for me -although their orders came in the form of a beguiling look, friendly rub of their heads/tails and stone-melting meows.

one thing i learn though - cats are not lone or solitary animal -they're quite social and they like to interact just like our dogs.

however a cat has a different personality and if you have a mutiple-cat household, the pecking order of each cat in its hierachy also determines its "vocalness". at least as for as i can observe.

regardless whether they're proud or not, cats are in fact very fastidious animals and clean, like routine and schedule (right on the dot, really not a second sooner or later and they're highly intelligent animals).

however this not to say that they can't be trained, in fact, they can be trained but it must be done subtly and it's always a fine race between their determined and agile minds and our own human intelligence.
