Default Puppy In Trauma? (Attacked by adult dog)

Last night, while out for a walk, my puppy (newly adopted 1 week ago) was attacked by a large stray dog. We've been feeding this stray dog when out for a walk (also recently) but had no idea he could be so aggressive toward the puppy. They had previous interaction and he only growled and moved away when the puppy approached him. Anyway, last night, I saw him coming toward us in the field and wanted to pick my puppy up but she'd eagerly run toward the dog quickly. At first he growled and moved away. In the mean time I was trying to pick the puppy up but she again approached the dog. This time, he snapped at her. She was fearful and rolled on her back, yelping. I wanted to pick her up but she ran away and he chased. He picked her up and shook her like a bag of sand. I shoo'ed him and finally managed to grab my puppy, brought her home. She was so traumatized and kept screaming intermittently (I don't know if it's out of pain or fear).

I checked for wounds but found none (no blood, no puncture?). She could hardly walk though so I suspected she sprained her back leg or maybe in trauma. She did eat when I fed her but throughout the night, she was whining/crying out randomly. Of course I couldn't sleep well at all.

Today I brought it to the vet and she inspected, said my puppy was fine physically. Gave some antibiotics, painkiller and vitamins.

The problem is now my puppy is very quiet, inactive, and wouldn't respond when I call her name. She wouldn't even look at me. Although she does lick me when I go up close to her. Is this due to trauma? Would she be able to recover? (how long?) I'm afraid she will forever lose her energetic/friendly behavior and become fearful.

Does anyone have any similar experience (puppy hurt by large dog) to share?
