Default Is my cat in heat?

i have a five months old kitten. She is usually quiet. However, lately she cannot stop meow-ing. Is she in heat? Wouldn't she be too young to be in heat? Planning to send her for spaying next month.

Hi, Kynthia -- she probably is in heat. Does she seem extra affectionate, rubbing against you more often? That's another signal. She should be finished by next month, and then you can get her spayed without any fuss. :-)

Actually yes. She seems more affectionate these days but I thought it was due to me leaving her with my friend for four days while I was away on vacation.

Hi maneki neko

Just want to ask, i got 2 kitten 6 months old. The male (once in a while) chasing his female partner, biting her neck from the back, and the female kitten will defend and shouting out loud, trying to defend using her paws.

Are they ready for mating (at 6 months of age)?

Are male cat also will have a heat? If the female cat is not in heat, is it possible they can mate?

Hi Kynthia,

I think she is on heat. Does she Meow really loudly attracting male cat attention? Does there seems to be male cat surrounding your house?

Hi Zatt,

For my point of view, They are ready to mate but is kinda for me, not advisable. Cause 2 reason.
1) For me they are too young to mate although they can mate. The female cat will have to use extra strain on her body for the babies inside her and is no good. Sides, is like children having another baby.

2) There is too much strays already to find their own home. There is no need to add more.

I hope that helps :D

Thx. I really dont want them to mate at 6 mts of age since they look too young.. But both of them are not a cage cat where I can seperate them all the time. They are my indoor cats living freely inside my house. Spaying n neutering is not an option since I really want to have at least one generation of them, then i will go for spaying/neutering.
