Hi everyone,
I am bringing my 4 cats and 1 dog to Australia with me next year. I need to get them vaccinated against rabbies and get a blood test to certify that they are immune to rabies.
Do you guys know where the government vets are in Klang?

Government Vet Clinics
Pagi pagi pukul 8 dah sampai. Ambik nombor & terus pergi minum. 845 pagi bila kaunter buka, durang kata vaccination kucing takde stock. Dah habis. I tanya, agak agak bila stock sampai?? Mungkin awal tahun depan. Tapi itu pun tak pasti lagi. Takde budget. Kerajaan takde duit. I was like, huh?? Such a waste of time. Tak boleh ke buat papan notis untuk bagitau kita orang. Buat kita orang macam bodoh tunggu pagi pagi buta.
So,jangan lah korang buang masa datang ke sini. Memang takde vaksin untuk kucing until further notice. Tapi itu pun ntah sampai ke tak stock. Petang ni nak bawa Max ke private pula. Takde choice.

Re: Government Vet Clinics
I am looking for someone to help me take my 4 cats and 1 dog to a government clinic. It has to be a government clinic because I need to microchip my dog. The private vets I have been to in Klang have no microchip services.
This is all done for exporting my pets to Australia so it must be a government clinic. All tests, reports, vaccinations and other things I need must be done at a government clinic or the Australian government won't recognise it.
I need to do the following:
1. Get Rabies jabs for my pets
2. Get a Rabies antibody blood test for my pets
3. Get my dog a microchip
4. Get my dog sterilised
This would take at least 2 trips to the vet because the rabies jab has to be first before the blood test can be taken at a later date. I expect more trips to the vet after all this has been done.
I am not familiar with the roads in Klang, have no car and can't drive. I am willing to pay someone to take me and my pets to the vet and back home for RM $50. PM me if you can help me out because I really find it very difficult to get this done alone.
Can't speak Bahasa Melayu and find it very hard to communicate with the people on the telephone on what I need to do at their clinic.

Re: Government Vet Clinics
Hi,
If you like to ask refer : animalhospital.com.my, they can do alot of servicing there and can transport your pet. Maybe that can help as well 'coz my English friend refer me this link and help her a lot with her pets.
I'm also planning to bring my cat in Brazil in 2012.
Please don't forget on your list , Import/Export Permit and Health Certificate.
If If I'm not mistaken the Import Permit is coming from Australia and has expiration as well before you can obtain export permit or vice versa.
I just purchased from Manekineko Cattery in Sarawak and she have experience in sending cats to/from Australia, Brunei etc., in fact my kitten parents is from Australia.
She has PF account (Manekinekocattery) perhaps she can help and drop her a message.
Not all dog breeds are allowed. Micro-chipped is important so clearance is easy for you and your pet not more than RM 50.00 while Gov't. Vets are RM25.00. You have to check the one week prior. Some pets have reactions to microchip or not planted well thus cause irritation or swelling. Please make sure whoever vet must be experience. England and Malaysia vets use the practice in embedding microchip on the left side of the neck. Implant location:
"In dogs and cats, chips are usually inserted below the skin at the back of the neck, between the shoulder blades on the dorsal midline. Continental European pets may be an exception; they get the implant in the left side of the neck, according to one reference. The chip can often be manually detected by the owner by gently feeling the skin in that area. It stays in place as thin layers of connective tissue form around the biocompatible glass which encases it."- Wikipedia site.
Refer to this link as well: http://microchip.org.au/
Refer to this link for more info: http://www.aussiemove.com/aus/pets.asp
Good luck to you and your pets.
Thank you.
Best Regards,
Eve

Re: Government Vet Clinics
My uncle helped me contact the government pet clinics in Klang and Shah Alam and found out that they do not treat dogs.
Thanks for the other info. I guess I shall try my luck at the KL government clinics. Are there any other clinics other than the one at Cheras?

Yes, govt vet in Jln Cheras treat dogs. I have seen it many times. They also give priority to police and bomba dogs. These dogs are HUGE!!! German Sherpard but very obedient.

Re: Government Vet Clinics
Hi ladies and gents,
Need help with vets. I'm traveling to KL from KK (Sabah) to bring a puppy back (arriving 10 March morning, departing 11 March evening).
Please can anyone tell me which vet I can go to get a "Pet Passport" and "Health Certificate" for my puppy? I would prefer to go to a government clinic (or a private vet that has government accreditation) but since I only have 1 working day in KL, not sure if this can be processed and/or completed in just a few hours.
Around Subang/Shah Alam/Klang area prefered.
Many thanks!

Hi Lyndiane -- have you already been in touch with the Dept. of Veterinary Services in Sabah to get your import permit lined up? They can inform you what paperwork you'll need to bring the puppy into Sabah, and whether or not you'll be required to quarantine it once you arrive.
As far as I know, MAS is the only airline that can transport pets from West to East Malaysia.
Regarding the KL paperwork, the pet passport comes from DVS. I would suggest getting in touch with them to get the latest requirements on exporting a dog from KL to Sabah. http://www.dvs.gov.my/en/home
Please keep us posted on your progress and your experience, because many people are interested in shipping pets back and forth between Borneo & the peninsula, but the guidelines change often and are sometimes unclear. Your first-hand information may be of great help to others.
Also, what breed of puppy are you shipping? I ask only because nearly all airlines, including MAS, have now refused to transport any of the "flat-faced" breeds of dog or cat -- English bulldog, pug, shih tzu, boxer dogs or flat-faced Persian or exotic cats. :-(
