Re: golden retriever keeper
This reminds me of the story in the gifted animal scientist Temple Grandin's book "Animals In Translation" on killer roosters that have been bred selectively by breeders until they no longer know how to perform the mating dance on the female hens to prepare and make them receptive and submit to the roosters' attempts to mount them.
It ended up that because the male roosters did not perform the mating dance which is supposed to flip the switch in the brains of the hens and make them sit and submit to the roosters, the hens resisted the sexual advances of the roosters. What happened in reality is that the killer roosters killed almost all the hens in the flock by stabbing them to death with their spurs. In the natural world, the birds mate and breed naturally and no hen is killed in such manner.
Same goes for the beautiful and intelligent collie. The breeders did selective breeding in order to get the so-called beautiful head shape but the skull is too small and narrow to house the collie brain and as such, the breeded collies ended up very stupid, not smart and intelligent like the originals.
Very sad ...
