DIY Recycle Paper Cat Litter

Fill to full a basin/baldi with shredded newspaper.


Fill with water and add a little bleach to disinfect the paper.


Step in on the paper to make it compact and compress. Do this a couple of time to make the paper soaked. Add more paper to fill the space. Step in the paper again. Cover and set aside for a day to soften the paper. Note that not to keep this for too long as the soak paper tent to smell with time.

Once the paper is soft, now the mashing process start. Use a rubber handgloves to protect your hand and nail from print ink. Make sure this gloves is of your hand size.

Start with tranferring a ball of soaked paper to a second container. Add water in. Squeeze and tear the strip repeatly. Add water as necessary. Once done, pour to the third container. Repeat the process till you are happy with the condition of the paper.



What I do to make the mash more finer is by blending the paper with a DYI mixer by using drill. I tied curtain hook to a steel rod, insert to a drill and blend the paper for finer result.



In this process, adding water must be in caution as too much will just turn the mixture, too little just burden the drill. You can also use normal kitchen blender to do this too.

Now the paper is all set for the next step of the process.

Pour the mixture into use pillow case. Make sure the pillow case is still strong and the paper mixture is heady. Tied the pillow case and set a side to let the access water flow out.



This may take a couple of hours. Just relex and let nature take charge. Once the size of the pillow case reduce to half, it time for you to transfer it to your washing machine.



Tuck the pillow case to the bottom of the washing machine evenly to balance spinning. You cant do this with side loader washing machine.




Spin as usual. Repeat spinning will remove more access water.

Once the spinning is done and the paper is remove from the pillow case, it would be in a form of block like this.



The next step is to break this block into pieces.



Now these paper cat litter is ready for drying. You can bake it at low heat in the oven to speed the drying process but sun heat drying save energy cost.

Final result will change the color of the paper to white, depend on how fine the paper being grained. When contact with urine, the paper litter turned dark.



Only dispose the dark wet paper litter. The litter box is dry and clean all the time. The only odor would be due to the urine stain on the box which can be minimixe using soda bicarbonate else frequent cleaning will do the trick.

Amount of litter should cover 1 inch of the bottom of the litter box.

Dispose soil paper litter into toilet bowl.

You need to prepare and process this paper litter in advance if you intend to use it for you newborn kitten as it cant be use straight away unless you dry bake it in an oven. You'll need large oven for this!

So, thats about it how it all done.

I do my drying on the ceiling deck of my flat apartment as I am staying on top floor. It would take a week to completely get the paper litter to dry. Initially, I made it from day to day until the deck was almost filled with the paper litter. Now, I would only do it, once a while to keep up the stock.

Take note, this paper is not fine enough yet. You still need to work more to get if finer.



At this stage, the mixture of paper and print ink can easily stain your nail and finger black. Use gloves.

Another version, dalam bentuk granule/batu-batu kecil yang bulat. Ini dibuat dengan cara mengayak kertas yang basah. Samalah cam buat kuih raya, kacang bersalut tepung tu.

Ini nampak lebih kemas tapi agak serut sikit bila nak scoop masa cleaning.

Aiiihhhh trubok biasalah. Sirap grenadine? mee kolok? takkan nak ambik kat sini gak? Kalau umai atau bubur pedas bulan posa nih adalah org kirum mengirum.

biase lah sini mee kolok ngan sirap grenadine tu mana nak dpt....ko tak tau bumbu bubur pedas tu pon dorang kighum...sorang sampai 5/10 peket (aku buat meniaga pon cantek nihh )..adeihh ...tu satu lagik udang yg salai sepeket 40 hengget tu..ape ke panggelnye aku lupa dah...howaaa ni kalau by 30 stakat kirim air lior..aku balek pon bawak air lior gak lah...

kitak sik mau jumpa kamek kah...

Sesar/udang salai, iskkk lama dah tak merasa, kembang lak rasa air liur . Buat kari atau sup rebus sedapppppp. Dua minggu dah posa lum lagik merasa bubur pedas....

Bila dan berapa hari raya kat situk kelak? Kamek start cuti 29/9 sampay 11/10.
