Volunteers needed for SPCA & PAWS

Hi to everyone here. I'm quite new in Petfinder and I think what Petfinder is doing for the unspoken animals r really really great and also to all the independent pet rescuers, fosterers n etc, BRAVO n keep up the GREAT JOB !!!
I have nvr tried but I'd like to volunteer at Paws too.......Hope to join ur 2nd group volunteering as I have missed the 1st one as posted here.
What are the things we could gather for Paws other than old newspapers ? I can try to collect some before hand.

What To Bring With You To PAWS

We need your household throw-aways! There are many ways you can help us. If you are coming to visit our centre we ask you to look around at home and please bring in these items if you have anything to spare. PAWS are in need of:

- CASH DONATIONS - For food, medicines, salaries, shelter repairs, etc.
- NEWSPAPERS - To put down as bedding in the animal cages
- CANNED or DRY DOG / PUPPY / CAT / KITTEN PET FOOD - We can never have enough food for the animals! (Prefer Friskies, Pedigree and Alpo)
- PET TOYS - To stop the animals from getting bored in their cages
- PET MILK POWDER (e.g. 'Animalac') - To feed tiny motherless puppies
- FLEA / TICK POWDER OR SHAMPOO / FRONTLINE - To help rid our animals of nasty pests
- LARGE PLASTIC RUBBISH BAGS - There is always mess to clear up!
- OLD TOWELS - To bathe the dogs
- OLD CLOTHES, T-SHIRTS, RAGS / SHEETS - For bedding in cages
- DETERGENT + HAND SOAP + BRUSHES - Any kind will help us to clean cages, wash hands, washing powder for bedding etc.
- CAT LITTER - So our animals have somewhere to go and are house trained
- CANS OF PAINT - White, yellow, or blue paint so our volunteers can keep the shelter looking fresh
- YOUR EXTRA TIME - As a volunteer! Even if you only come once you would be making a difference to these animal's lives...
- NO MORE RICE DONATIONS PLEASE (Our animals now eat commercial pet food)

Thanks for the tips, Hourus. I've just emailed a few of my colleagues if they can contribute any of the items.
Can I drop off the collected items any day/time ? Who should I look for ? (FYI, I work near Sunway/Subang area).
I've just read Paws' website, do they really have to relocate ?

Welcome to petfinder.my, we have a great volunteer member for helping those animal outside there. It is honest you able joining. How did you find petfinder? you know became the volunteer is not easy job, but in fact you able see the reality and truly how there helping.

Sorry for the late reply... It was an eye-opening experience for me. First time for us went to PAWS and working in a team to help taking pictures of the dogs. Darren showed us around before we started our work.

It was my first time meeting friends from Petfinder. :)

Yes, the animals there really pitiful waiting to be rehomed and I believe some have been at the shelter for a while now. At the same time, I observe that the animals are well taken care of by the staff as well as the volunteers who are helping at the shelter. I hope the animals will find a loving home some day... In the mean time, let us do what we can and with what we have...

Yeah, some dogs are very nice n preety. everyone should take a visit to shop around there insted of lazying around computers n TVs.

joanne, it is better u call PAWS b4 handling over the items as they need some1 to receive the items, u can look for uncle charlie (abit grumpy ) edward or julie) dont tink PAWS will be relocating soon though

vivi, that would be fax machine that can load up plain paper if i stand to correct myself

fax machine introduce HP 4355 all in one, it cheap less then rm400 using a4 paper.

I found Petfinder as I was browsing the internet. Not recommended by any1 though.

Just to be clear, do u mean that there r enough volunteers ?
I do understand that its not an easy job but working in a group volunteer would be easier than an individual. But to me, the bottom-line is to help no matter how little / how much we could. I would really like to try out if Petfinder is organising a 2nd group volunteer n time/date permits me to do so.

K I feel a bit malu for asking that fax question.
But DIMB, The Hp officeject 4355 sells only Rm 280 here in Sabah. 4in1.
So i think maybe over west Malaysia will be cheaper. I just bought that model 3 months ago RM295. Now jatuh harga lagi.

joanne, dont worry about facing uncle charlie, once u know him, he is kinda sweet old guy, i would say any amount is good for PAWS, but as the saying goes, the more the better.....i tink it is ur own discretion if u want to mention that u r a member of petfinder, petfinder wont have problem with it (as long as u dont use petfinder's name for ur own gain or to do somthing bad), call PAWS and arrange with them, they will be more than happy to accept the items from you, no matter how small or big the contribution, the important thing is you are sincere.

I'm so proud of all the great work being done here, I will never use Petfinder's name for bad purposes.
