Talking Labrador or Golden Retriever

Which makes a better dog?
I dont want a dog that ends up like Marley (the crazy Lab in Marley and Me book)

They are both of the same - from the face

only the fur - one short hair - one really very bulu...

Both also I like...

I saw this cute dogs at a pet shop

Awww both of them sleeping

There is also beagle, basset hound
There is one crazy cream beagle - really hysterical type - this one take home - your house sure gone case

There is one beagle - begging

OK, coming from both a Labrador and Golden owner, here's my 2 cents :
The temperaments and behaviours are the same. Both loving, great dogs. Equally easy to train. Equally active & wild when puppies.

Only differences I noticed :

1. Golden tends to have hairs that like to float. Labs have hairs that are harder to get out of your chair cushions. When you hug a Golden, the hair will stick on your cloths more as they are finer. Labs hair are found on the floor more (YES! Both shed like crazy)

2. Takes longer to groom Golden - bathing, brushing etc. Shampoo harder to come out. Have to use more water. Harder to dry also.

3. If you go hiking, outdoors, for Labs, very easy to get the dirt off. Quick clean up is possible.

4. Lab has more "doggie" smell, for me at least. Don't know why.

5. For Golden, need extra care for the coat to make it nice, shiny and so on.

That's all the difference I can think of. So, it's up to individual dogs - some are calmer, some are wilder. Just find one that fits your personality. Because the cute factor will wear off after 6 months.

thanks for the tips....
yes everyone said puppy time is nicer..
but after 6 months to 1 year
they turn into monster and this is where you get different character.

but it is definitely easier to train a pup when it is small right?

It's whether you are good at training or not. Any dog can be trained. And an adult dog has it's pros and cons. Personally I hate males esp beagles and basset hounds. IF you are keen on a beagle you can try looking at the male beagle that i have.

Agree with acsyen. Any dog can be trained. The GOlden, I got at 10 months. Initially so wild, don't even know how to take food from people's hand gently. Now can sit, down & fetch.

So, as to whether puppies are easier to train. Probably not true. Depends on the dog loh. And how determined you are.

The one for adoption now is so far the best behaved among the others. The other males worst than monkey and stubborn and noisy and destructive.

Golden Retriever
Temperament
Friendly, reliable, and trustworthy. Quarrelsomeness or hostility towards other dogs or people in normal situations, or an unwarranted show of timidity or nervousness, is not in keeping with Golden Retriever character. Such actions should be penalized according to their significance.
Labrador Retriever
Temperament
True Labrador Retriever temperament is as much a hallmark of the breed as the "otter" tail. The ideal disposition is one of a kindly, outgoing, tractable nature; eager to please and non-aggressive towards man or animal. The Labrador has much that appeals to people; his gentle ways, intelligence and adaptability make him an ideal dog. Aggressiveness towards humans or other animals, or any evidence of shyness in an adult should be severely penalized.

Yes....soo cute, go for it!

golden is very playful n active, you have bring them out atleast one or two time per week, but do it only after the third injection, coz they are easy to get infection when still puppy
