Shameless Man Resells Adopted Kitten
setuju.utk org yg nak kasih cats/kitten for adoption pls do more homework on your potential adoptive parents.get their details like home address, phone number, where they work etc. it will help in case thing like this happen. One more thing, pay them a surprise visit to ensure the cats/kitten in good hand.

Re: Shameless Man Resells Adopted Kitten
Selalunya kita ni seronok sangat bila bela pets, satu dua tahun tu okay la, lama-lama bela tergerak lak nak bercucu-cicit, n bila dah banyak sangat dah tak larat nak bela, put for adoption, maka jadila macam ni. Disebabkan dah terlampau banyak pets, sanggup let go for free sebab nak buang memang ler tak sampai hati. Bila dah free ni memang ramaila yang minat, so ramaila yang akan cerita baik-baik, janji macam-macam utk dpt free. So, dont be surprised kalau this thing will continue to happen forever, if we all don't change!!
So, Pakcu nak nasihatkan la. For those yang really suka pets, before you bela, please think for next 2-3 years after u bela pets. Cats for example, if you dont neuter/spay them, within a year from a pair of cats, can grow to 17 cats! Just imagine if it for 3-4 years!! Dah banyak sangat nanti bukan saja u all menyampah tengok kucing tu, tapi org lain pun akan menyampah tengok you bila semua kucing you tak terurus and terjaga sepenuhnya. Lastly, bila dah tak de org nak adopt, terpaksala buang kucing2 tu.
So, Pakcu nak cadangkan ler, walaupun agak drastik tapi this is for the better of all cats and the owners.
1. Kalau u nak put for adoption - makesure they all dah di spay/neuter. Kalau belum, mintak duit from the potential adoptee for that cost and send them for that operation. Kalau you all dah spay/neuter, then it's up to you want to let it go for free or not. At least, neuter/spay cats will not going to reproduce and strays will be controlled. And neuter/spay cats pun tak de harga sangat kalau nak jual and those genuine pet lovers jer yang akan adopt kucing macam ni.
2. For pet rescuers - please rescue and spay/neuter them before you put them for adoption. If you all tak buat benda ni, just rescue them and when they're healthy you put them for free adoption, the above problems will still continue to happen and haunt us.
3. NEVER Let go them for free. Let the potential adopter rasa bertanggungjawab sikit. Kalau dia memang suka pets and memang tak de niat nak jual pets tu balik, memang dia akan bayar. So dont worry. NEVER sesekali lepaskan pets for free!!. Please...
So, I do hope, year 2009 will all the challenges ahead, memang ramai will do anything unethical to reap bad benefits. Please, if we all united in what good we do, we can achieve something for the better of all pets in Malaysia.

Shameless Man Resells Adopted Kitten
Pakcu,I'm with you on this matter. ALL strays that i intend to send for adoption I will send them to be neuter first. If the new adopter are genuine cat lovers they won't mind I neuter them.So I kill 2 birds with 1 stone.I prefer the cats stay with me as PR cat outside my apartment rather than sending them to greedy people who are only interested making fast buck.

Re: Shameless Man Resells Adopted Kitten
From the posting, the kittens did not come from the pet rescuer's own unspayed cat. They were rescued by her as tiny kittens dumped by somebody irresponsible, cleaned up, raised with good food and then spayed/neutered and vaccinated first before letting go to this guy in good faith free of charge (this is the sad mistake actually because a nominal sum MUST be placed to deter "main-main" adopters).
Hopefully, the new adopter who was willing to pay RM100 for the pair of neutered/spayed and vaccinated kitties will be a more responsible adopter than the crafty entreprising businessman who took them for free, treated the kitties as commodities and made a fast transaction.
Luckily the kitties are good looking, I dare not think what would have happened to them if they were not and would have languished in the guy's hand like those "tak laku" sick and pathetic looking neglected cats in pet shops!
Thank God at least the kitties are saved from being made "baby machines".

dont be surprise pasal ni
some of us yg claim to be cat lover..
but at the end..selling cats yg dia jumpa tepi jalan tau...
ada juga yg adopt free frm kawan2...then bila terdesak...jual jek..
so..jgn terpedaya pada yg ngaku cat lover...get to know the person....see his/her cats with your own eyes..baru lah kita tau...sapa dia sebenarnya...

I believe what matters ultimately is the total number of lives saved, since it is often difficult to guarantee the quality and genuineness of each adopter.
I am totally against such people that exploit the rescuers. But, just to put the matter in a different light, if the kittens ultimately get sold by this person, I believe they would also likely lead decent lives. In such cases, the rescuer was cheated, but his/her generous and selfless deed still paid off in the end.

Well said Andy, u sound abit like a lawyer. hehehe. all the choice of words. it almost sounded like proffesor. hehehe.
Ascyen I think you r being abit harsh on jac, ppl already feel bad the kittens went to the wrong hands and yet u still stab her once more with fees theory.(If adopting a pet is too pricy, then alot of genuine adopter will be taken back). Well, i dont want to start fighting but, personally I think scolding a crying child on broken vase is bad. but scold a laughing child on a broken vase is correct. hehehe :) .peace.
I belive in Karma. so I am not too fuss about events like this. and I do hope the kittens were bought by decent adopters so no further harm can get to the kitties.

I agree with Bell....
Jac has been an angel to have sheltered so many homeless animals. All I can say is, world is never fair, there are bound to be some "demons" out there. It is good that Jac wrote to Andy to highlight that "low-life" for all to know.
"Theories" that are too imposing to adopters may at the end of the day deprieve an animal of the love they could have gotten. Like a child given away for adoption, do you think birth parents can give a surprise visit whenever they want to? As much as I would love adopters of my kittens to send me updates, it is not a must.

Re: Shameless Man Resells Adopted Kitten
Hmmm.....good point. Too strict and prospective adopters would be put off. *sigh*
Well, in that case, let's brainstorm and think of some ways where rescuers could be diligent in screening prospective adopters without putting them off with "unreasonable demands".
Who wants to start the ball rolling??

Shameless Man Resells Adopted Kitten
Bina, I never ask money from the adoptive parents. The only way for me to know they are genuine cat lovers is by pay a surprise visit. Just to chk how is the cat doing.Once a month.I'll do it twice only.Just to make sure the cat/kitten fit into the family and the family taking the trouble to make sure the cat/kitten comfortable with their new home. I also encourage the to call me if they see strange behaviour of the cat/kitten since I'm the one who raise these cat/kitten.
So far I don't have any problem with the adoptive parents visiting their cat/kitten. I think this is fair for both adoptive parents and the cat.

Re: Shameless Man Resells Adopted Kitten
Okay... Lets define unreasonable demand and which are not.
This is what Pakcu think are unreasonable demand :-
1. Charging a fee of above RM 200.00
2. Requesting a weekly update from the adopter
3. Inquiring all out on the adopter ie : occupation, how much they earned, what will be their occasional yearly travel plan etc
4. Threatened to get back the pets if the pets being treated badly
Not unreasonable demand
1. Charging a fee below RM 200.00
2. Exchange of contact number and roughly where they live
3. Their plan for the pets - suggesting some ie to neuter/spay/resonable vets
4. Always open should they want to return....
Anyhow, Pakcu still believes, to give away neuter/spay pets are the best way to lessen this problems. If you love your pets especially cats, you really dont mind to have them neuter/spay. And those potential adopter of these cats, will be surely if not 100% are petlovers.
(You really dont want to be called backyard breeder right... even you breed them and later give it away freely...)
For pet rescuers - if you rescue and later put it up for adoption, please think of this option before give away. If, the neuter/spay cats find it difficult to find a new home, at least the cats are living the rest of their lives happily with no sexual stress and territorial needs.
And there is nothing wrong af charging a reasonable fees.... At least you put a value to the pets.
Pakcu 2 cents....

Shameless Man Resells Adopted Kitten
Pakcu, this is from my past experience.
Case 1
A girl name Diya adopted 2 male kittens from me. She came with cat food for my cats. She has 1 female kitten at home. 3 days later she called me and wanted to return the 2 male kittens. I asked her why?? She said her female kitten didn't get along with the new kittens. I told her to give them a week. Give her tips on how to make the 3 kittens become friends and tips on to raise cats. She agree. 1 week later she called and she will keep the 2 male kittens. The 3 kitties get along together and even sleep together I'm was so happy to hear that. She updated me once a month until they reached 8 mths old. After that we lost touch. But I'm sure they are ok because she got married after that. By the way,she live in Subang Jaya.
Case 2
A guy name Halim and his wife from Puchong email me to adopt Naga (male kitten) after saw his pic in the forum. We communicate via phone and email. He came and view Naga.Fall in love instantly. He asked me how much I want to charge him. I said is free.As long as he and his wife take good of Naga,I'm happy already. They brought me a bag of cat food for Naga's mother. Actually Halim wants Kecik also so that Naga not alone but I cannot let go Kecik because Kecik is mum's favourite. Halim email me updating abt Naga. Finally he found partner for Naga from one of the rescuer in Selayang. We keep in touch for few months until I accidentally deleted his email containing his phone number. So we lost touch. From what I gather, before we lost touch,Naga and partner are doing fine and very naughty climbing here and there.Wake Halim and his wife at 5am for breakfast.Very cute.
Case 3
A couple wants to adopt Letchumi a long hair stray.I told them they can collect Letchumi after I spay her. They disagree and asked me not to spay Letchumi. They want Letchumi to have baby (because Letchumi is long hair). I told them forget about it and I'm not going to give Letchumi to them.So Letchumi is still with me until now.
Case 4
My Superblack and the gang will have a new home soon.Their adoptive parents doesn't mind the fact all of them already neuter. They want to help me to rehome the kitties because DBKL will take them away due to complaints from my neighbour. I communicate with them via phone only.So we'll see how is the progress.
I have also come across many more pontential adopter in the process but I turn them down because they disagree when I said I must neuter the kitten/cat before giving them out for adoption.Neuter is in my top list before I give the cat away.
