Unhappy Need ur opinion & suggestion on my bunnies

hey guys,
i have few questions to ask about rabbits:-
i have 2 (woogie-buck) and (jolie-doe)
havent spay/neuter them coz i really want them to give me another few bunnies

1) if rabbits mate, is it possible that the doe is on top of the buck? Bcoz from what i know, male ones will always be on top of females.. coz my mom saw them mate but jolie is on top of woogie...

2) could they fight until they pull each others' fur? But from what i saw last night, jolie was just laying down and woogie starting to pull her fur out but she was so relaxed ... Then i stop him from doing that but jolie's condition now makes me feel so sad... Just imagine that all of the fur on her forehead (between her 2 eyes) has been all pulled out by woogie... n that makes her looks like she's sick.. I really pity her so 2day gonna buy another set of cage stuff to separate them..

is this normal or my rabbits are a little bit weird?
hope you guys can help me out or should i bring her to the vet immediately?

i dont know much about breeding....
all i know rabbits are very "gatal" hahaaa ok they are just like hamsters
they mate a lot... so you need to control them

they are also seasonal..not all mix together..

males get very aggressive when they "high"
females get aggressive when they dont like the partner... so your male might being even be injured if two left unattended

firstly you need to get them to socialize first
when you do this - you need to make sure they are ok. any weird reaction - pls pull one out before disaster starts.

rabbits are famous for being dominant in certain ways.

some tips :
http://www.mismatch.co.uk/rabbitbreed.htm
http://books.google.com.my/books?id=...um=4&ct=result
http://www.lopsandcavies.com/pdf/Rab...eding_Book.pdf

Let nature take it's course.
dont stare them doing ahaha you are intruding their privacy ok hahaa

hehe.. they're doing fine living together.. they can play mix around well.. + i have a good guardian looking after them at night.. My house cat will sleep near their cage i guess some cats are good to rabbits just that i'm not used with the fur-pulling stuff yet... Makes me crazy worried... But i think jolie is shedding coz when i brush her this morning, what i get is a thick shed fur on the brush..

Anyways, i would like to know what vaccine do rabbits needs and how much does it costs? Since i live in Kuching, Sarawak... most vets that i called only experienced few rabbits patient, so for the time being there's no vets that i find reliable for my rabbits...

Hi Dayana,

There is no vaccine for rabbits in Malaysia. The 2 most common vaccines are for VHD and Myxomatosis. It seems that these diseases are not a problem in Malaysia, hence no need to vaccinate.

As for the female being on top of the male... rabbits hump for 2 reasons. First, to mate. Second, to establish dominance. So if you see your doe humping your male, she is trying to establish that she is the boss.

As for her bald forehead, sometimes rabbits overgroom each other, resulting in fur loss. As long as the area is not bleeding or infected in any way, its fine. But if you want to prevent overgrooming, separate them.

As for the issue of breeding, pls read the sticky post entitled 'Breeding' http://forums.petfinder.my/showthread.php?t=950 . How old are your rabbits? Rabbits are fertile from as early as 3 months old. Females should not be bred until they are at least 6 months. Breeding females too early is like getting a 12 year old girl pregnant. Can be done, but of course, dangerous to the female's life.

Rabbits ovulate when they mate. Gestation period is about 30 days. Females can get pregnant again as soon as they have delivered (because again, the ovulate each time they mate). So in 1 year, your rabbit can get pregnant 12 times! Please read more about breeding rabbits before proceeding, and please separate them for now if you do not want your doe to become a baby factory.

There are lots of rabbits abandoned all the time. Consider rescuing one if you want more rabbits :)

your traveling refer to how extreme ar? pindah rumah from time to time ar

rabbits dont really like to be transfer here and there
because they are very territory kind of animal
change cage, change place - they must be able to adapt if not they get very agitated (tak seronok that kind)

but it wont reduce their life span la
but if you scare them.....traumatized - mati pun instantly :)

oic....1 lagi soalan...

saya baru adopt rabbit holland lop berumur 1thn 8 bln. baru dapat petang tadi.... tapi die ada bau sikit la....tak macam lagi 2 ekor wabit saya (lion head & local mix)...tak berbau.FYI... diet wabit yang baru saya dapat ni hanya pallet & hay.sesekali ada la jugak bagi veg(owner lama dia kata la).& lagi 2 ekor wabit lama saya hari2 makan veg & pallet.saya kasi selang2 la...

adakah sebab diet makanan die ni punca dia berbau?kalau ya, perlukah saya tukar diet dia dengan memberi lebih banyak veg?

I've travelled from KL to Penang with my rabbits.. although they did not enjoy the ride, they were ok. Just keep an eye on them to make sure that they're eating, drinking, pooping normally after the journey.

What do you mean by the rabbit is smelly? Is the body dirty? or is it the pee that is smelly? Again, unneutered and unspayed rabbits will have much stronger pee odour because of their hormones. Once you neuter/spay them, you will see a BIG improvement.. no more strong smelling pee.

Well, pasal travel, i think it's okay if ur rabbits pindah rumah as long as they still tinggal n tgk muka u bcoz rabbits can also get sad if suddenly org yg slalu jaga diorg xde...

If travel quite far, some rabbits x biase they can get diarrhea... Tahi diorg cair-cair... Sebab travel in car/bus, boleh buat diorg mabuk, same like humans lah.. Dats what a rabbit breeder told me last time so i'm just sharing it with u.. Tapi just monitor, by time they should be okay..

Anyway, vivien n somebunny...thanks for ur infos b4...
know wat, both my rabbit r fine now, healthy n noty hehe
but really i cant mixed them together coz the notiest one will always be plucking the good girl's fur until botak.. Really makes me

Afro, rabbits don't need to be bathed.

It could be its scent glands then.. here's a link on cleaning scent glands http://www.fuzzy-rabbit.com/hfaq.htm Look under the heading "Cleaning out scent glands"

I hope your rabbit has pooped and pee-ed by now. If they stop pooping, that's a sign that something's wrong with their gut. Make sure it's eating, drinking, pooping and peeing. If it's not, pls google 'Rabbit GI Stasis'. Having a pet requires some knowledge/research before hand.. don't wait until there is a problem, then only start looking for answers, it could be too late then :)

yeah rabbit dont need bathing...
they groom and clean themselve
i have not seen rabbit in the bathtub yet
they go crazy and hysterical seeing water...hahahaa

but i do see rabbit shampoo..hhhmmmmmmm

if no poo poo can be due to environment changes....
keep an eye as it can be serious...

rabbits do recognize owner......
mine do..they get angry if someone else touches them
for me i can
especially my bit bit.....he bites my brother before
he bites my cousins before..
he dont bite me but he will lick me hahaha......see isnt he sweet

when i come back from work
his eyes will open
i opened the cage ready for him to come out..
he will go make roundabout stomping his legs..
let see minimum roundabout he does will be at least 3 times to 8 times...until i ask him to STOP!

maybe dia masih tak biasa dgn keadaan sekeliling. tapi mungkin gak perangai dia macam tu sebab rabit saya yang warne itam tu sampai skarang xsuka dipegang.bila pegang je mesti dia menendang. tapi awk try la main ngan dia hari2....usap2 dia.jgn bagi dia terkejut

kalau nak litter train, awk bole try bukak website.tulis je rabbit litter tranning. nanti kua macam2 cara nak handle
