Earmite's on my kitten will not go away!

Hi guys,

I found out around 10 days ago or more, that one of my kittens has ear-mites. I went to the vet and she gave me Ilium ear drops. I'll put around 3-4 drops twice a day. I also clean out the ear before putting the drops. After 10 days of treatment the ear-mites are still there! The vet told me it'll probably clear up after 7 days. But instead I see more brownish - black discharge coming out from Moki's ear. Is there anything else I can do? Am I doing it wrong?

I've treated adult cats with ear-mite's before, this never happened. It will usually cure in 4-5 days.

Dulu kucing sy pun ada kena ear mites ni..
sy just guna kan ubat ear mites jenama Troy..
alhamdullilah bekesan.. dalam seminggu je dah ok..

Hi Neems,

I never tried Ilum before however I did try 'Cranker Ear Drops' which looks similar like Ilum too. Its very effective. After 3 days of treatment, morning and evening the earmites went away. One bottle costs about RM16 to RM18.

Then there is another one which is from the same supplier of Frontline. Its called 'Earrific' and its a bigger bottle compared to Cranker Ear Drops. I got it from Petsmoore and it cost around RM29.00. Also very effective.

My suggestion before buying a new bottle of ear mites medication, I would suggest that you go back to your vet and inform him/her that that the medication given to you does not seem to work. See what he/she will advise you.

i think maybe the one u used the ear drop is a liquid to clean the cats ear only, the ear cranker is for earmites treatment..usually using the earcranker will take 2weeks time to fully recover from the mites..erm..my vet told that..i used the troy ear cranker, my furkids also got earmites last 2 month, now they fully recovered..hoho..:)

Yeah, I plan to go back to the vet today. The Ear-drops you mentioned are cheaper than Ilium. Ilium was around RM34.

I will try with one of those you mentioned if nothing changed. Thanks.

The label says: Active against Earmites, Bacterial and fungal infections in dogs and cats.

I guess I'll have to ask the vet. Thanks.

Saya baru lagi kat sini tapi ni lah nak tanya kat expert kat sini boleh ka?
Saya ada female persian 3 bulan dia ada earmites and fungus. Dah gi jumpa doc dua kali , doc kasi dia ubat mkn dan ubat sapu tapi tak baik2 jugak. Dalam masa sebulan setengah dah dia kena. Last week gi jumpa doc lain ,doc kasi injection dan antibiotic je. Tapi hari ni dia garu telinga , leher dia tak henti2 dah naik calar2. Nak kasi dia ear drop tak tau mana yang betul2 elok , dah mandi kan dia malaseb.... tolong lah

Pelihara kucing nie memang bukan senang. Banyak kita kena labur seperti masa dan duit. Selalunya ear drops untuk earmites ialah Troy Cranker Ear Drops atau Earrific yang saya sedang pakai. Cuci telinga kucing you dulu and then titiskan dua atau 3 titis dalam telinga dan usapkan. Lakukan nie sampai la tahi di telinga tu kurang. Sebaiknya lakukan dua kali dalam sehari. Kalo kucing masih lagi kitten elok la mandikan malaseb sekali dalam 3 hari. Biar malaseb atas badan kitten you tu selama 10 minit dan pastikan dia tak jilat shampoo tu sebab tu ada lah racun. Lepas mandikan cepat cepat keringkan untuk mengelakkan kucing tu jatuh sakit. Dah tu you kena mop satu rumah dengan clorox campur air untuk matikan spora fungal tu. Cuci litter box dan tempat makan juga ngan clorox campur air. Insyaallah dia akan baik.

Tempat mkn dia org, lantai, carpet saya selalu bersih kan ngan clorox or vacum. Saya mandikan ngan malaseb seminggu sekali n now saya akan cuba bersih kan telinga dia dua kali sehari dan letak eardrop 2 kali sehari jugak. Terima kasih byk2 atas jawapan tu... i really appricate it...
