Alex, it's generally best to introduce a new cat to your household very gradually, confining the new cat to one room for a time until your first cat or cats become used to his scent. There's a lot of very good information about bringing a new cat home in this thread:

Also, cats who may be the best of friends will still "play-fight" on a regular basis. This is how they stay in practice -- they puff up, growl, wrestle, chase, dodge -- but they don't harm each other. Watch your cats when they seem to be fighting. Are they pulling tufts of fur out of each other, or drawing blood from ears, etc? If not, chances are good that they're merely play-fighting.
One final thought: Remember that spaying and neutering will reduce aggression in both sexes as well as having many other health benefits.
Best of luck.
